I remember listening that late saturday night show on SEN with Tony Sheahan....anyhow this guy was on, I had no idea who he was, he was so reasonable and making sense. I was puzzled who it was, seemed very knowledgeable about the inner workings of the AFL etc..
..it was Nixon. I was dumbfounded..1.the mere fact he was on radio, obviously forgiven and back in the fold...2. sounded so sensible.
Have heard him again on the show, still the same, but every now and then he says something that makes you think not a lot has changed.
Still a creep, but that seems to be SEN's thing.....they've got Gary Lyon back too.

Jesus that is a few list spots taken up by guys who are past their best. Hodge and Whitecross I could stomach. Hartung would be one too many.

Does it? Hartung and Whitecross would be borderline best 22 and any games they play would be at the expense of a much more talented younger player like Witherden or McCluggage.
I've only seen Hartung a few times but he seemed okay. Am I missing something? Has got to be better than playing Lester on the wing surely? I know he's as outside as you can get but we do lack a ball carrier...

Yeah pre-trade period I would've said one of Hodge OR Whitecross would help our defence. Both of them in the same team? Then you're really starting to rob Peter to pay Paul, cutting into game time of Robertson, Mayes, Gardiner, McStay, Witherden etc.
Like you I think Hartung is excessive. I don't even know what Hartung brings to the modern game? The talk is about his tank but there's only so much endurance can do - see M. Paparone.

The loophole scenario is bullshit, we could pick him up as a delisted free agent, regular trade or in the PSD regardless of whether he retired.

Completely different player to Lester. I doubt there'd be many players in the league who play wider of the contest than Hartung. Avoids contact of any sort, racks up cheapies, and has no penetration in his kicking.
Yeah I wouldn't be in favour of getting Hartung or Whitecross (can he even get out of a jog at this point?)- let alone both.
Probably more like a poor man's Andrew Gaff tbh, at least Squizzy could crumb a goal or two even when he was struggling badly.

Hawks retired Hodge and don't want to offer Harting a contract. Whitehorse had a chance to come to us when he was younger and chose not to. Surely we're not going to give them Schache for that lot.

Most likely scenario is it's 3 mates heading up to Brisbane, where one is soon to move, one is from here so can help with where to house hunt, and the third is tagging along cause they're all mates currently on holidays.

Hartungs strength is his running ability. From memory he smashed the beep test at the combine in his draft year and broke the existing record at the time. He's a great two way runner and also has a burst of speed, something we lack.
His skills aren't great but there's room for improvement, still very young.
I'd take a punt on him.

Think Cameron will end up playing that run and carry wing role for us that we are looking for as well as obviously spending times up forward in the forward 50.
But if we are looking at a player for Schache from the Hawks I'd ask for Breust.
We need a small forward who can not only apply defensive pressure but he's also shown he can kick goals. He has relationships here already with Hodgey and Fages as well as the cousin to Jakey Barrett I believe. I think he's only ~26 so he's not over the hill by any means.
Obviously the above is unlikely but we'd have to be bat shit mad to trade Schache for (potentially soon to be delisted) Hartung & Whitecross.
