Weekend Wrap and "Liked, Learned, Hated" right here -- How did tipping go?
Please not Hartung/Whitecross
The real question is do they want to be long term players for our football club?3 top 10s should absolutely be our aim considering what we have available to trade. Would love it if two of those picks could be top 5 cause I see LDU and Brayshaw being a great fit but that's probably expecting too much.

Im glad to see its being reported we are chasing a top up mid. Going into this year with the same midfield was dangerous, going in with no Rocky or a replacement is scary business.
Not sure if we will be able to manufacture something but its an absolute must IMO.

No point in having these high picks if the player rated in that range don't want to be long term players for us and would walk out the club in a couple of years. We probably have to target specfic player that will be long terms for us and then trade the remaining high picks for established players.
For example we have pick 12 at the moment. If the club identifies the kids from pick 12-18 are high risk chance to go home, then I wouldn't mind if the club payed overs to get Charlie Cameron to the club.
HUN reporting Lions have dropped idea of going for high-end talent....will rely on draft picks to continue building the list.
Other than the fact Clarke has played more than 100 games and managed to play plenty of games in a side with a number of ruck options tells me he's shown a lot more than Archie.Unlikely- especially not eyeing him off as their first ruck as was suggested in the OP that I was replying to. Archie Smith has shown just as much as Clarke.
Time to move onSo we're going after an experienced mid and yet we just let one walk out the door without matching an offer, netting us a bullshit pick that didn't reflect the player's worth.![]()

I can tell ya it's definitely not him.Even though he's signed Dodongo is wondering if it's Wylie Buzza. But then Dodongo realises you are all talking about a mid.
Yet we're letting a no.2 pick walk out the door; way to rely on the draft to build a list.HUN reporting Lions have dropped idea of going for high-end talent....will rely on draft picks to continue building the list.

BRISBANE will stick true to their long-term vision and continue to build its list through the draft.
The Lions will explore the delisted free agency period to find potential mature-bodied midfielders to help ease the burden that is expected to be placed on their younger players by the departure of former skipper Tom Rockliff to Port Adelaide.
They are also working behind the scenes on another potential trade that can add to their midfield, but they have ruled out throwing high-end draft picks at clubs to try to recruit an A-grader.
The addition of Hawks great Luke Hodge and the anticipated acquisition of Crow Charlie Cameron will increase the average age of the youngest list in the competition, even with the departure of Rockliff.
The Lions’ future hinges on the development of young key- position players Eric Hipwood, Harris Andrews and Dan McStay and the club’s strategy is to create a midfield that can develop alongside them.
Last year they added Hugh McCluggage and Jarrod Berry as well as skilful halfbacks Cedric Cox and Alex Witherden, all within the top 24 picks.
Rhys Mathieson came into the club the year before.
They will enter this year’s draft with picks No.1 and 12, as well as 18 as a compensation pick for Rockliff, and pick 19.
One of those picks could yet be used to lure Cameron.
Football manager David Noble said the Lions were in discussions with a player, but would not reveal who, and said there was no godfather offer to a star in the pipeline.
He said if the negotiations fell over they would not start bidding on any player at the trade table.
“We have got to be true to our vision to build an elite midfield and to do that we will go back to the draft,’’ he said.
“We need to be patient, we will look to add some mature players to our list but if we can’t get the ones we have identified we won’t panic.’’
The Lions made Rockliff’s move to Port Adelaide official when they chose not to match the Power’s offer for the restricted free agent.
Rockliff, who played 154 games over nine seasons for the Lions, said the time was right for change.
“I met with Ken Hinkley, Travis Boak and some other key people at Port Adelaide after the season and was really impressed,” Rockliff said.
“I think the club can be great for me as a footballer and I think I have a lot to offer the club too. Port Adelaide is coming off a strong season and everyone is optimistic about what we can achieve in 2018.”
getting boring now. Lets force a kid to stay for 2 more years despite him possibly mentally breaking down. More important things than footy. For example, Justin Clark probably had a few more years in his contract but him and us know that he had to retire. No difference between physical damage and mental damageYet we're letting a no.2 pick walk out the door; way to rely on the draft to build a list.![]()
Ok, Freo must have cut him because they have to much talent on the list.Other than the fact Clarke has played more than 100 games and managed to play plenty of games in a side with a number of ruck options tells me he's shown a lot more than Archie.

Mitch Robinson was a pretty handy delisting for the Lions. You missed my point and that's fine but players can be delisted for a number of reasons that don't reflect their talent.
Good chance we’re in Gibson or Trengrove’s ear about continuing their career.

Here's a thought. Quite possibly Rockliff had no intention of re-signing with the Lions. Wanted out and a new start. Shopped himself last year, but there were no takers. Rehabbed his image over the course of the season just finished, then hit free agency where he knew he would find a new home.So we're going after an experienced mid and yet we just let one walk out the door without matching an offer, netting us a bullshit pick that didn't reflect the player's worth.![]()
Seriously, do you not read some of the first hand information posted in the Schache thread. Forcing Schache to honour his contract at the Lions might just be about worst thing the club could do.Yet we're letting a no.2 pick walk out the door; way to rely on the draft to build a list.![]()

Very eloquently and concisely put briztoon.Seriously, do you not read some of the first hand information posted in the Schache thread. Forcing Schache to honour his contract at the Lions might just be about worst thing the club could do.
We're not letting him walk out the door. We're looking out for the kids best interests.
