Caller named Luke suggested that Barrett was treading dangerously close to defamation by suggesting the Lions and Hawks were rorting the free agency compensation system. Barrett got pretty flustered and then after the ad break there was a guy sitting in for him and said Barrett had to make some calls.

I'm being pretty tongue in cheek with the suggestions. Barrett just got flustered.

Correct! There is clearly no actual legal substance to it, although Terry Wallace's allusion of close working relationship between Fagan and Clarko and then going on to talk about a 'loophole' is a bit more iffy. Obviously no actual legal risk but it's pretty funny he got flustered.

Correct! There is clearly no actual legal substance to it, although Terry Wallace's allusion of close working relationship between Fagan and Clarko and then going on to talk about a 'loophole' is a bit more iffy. Obviously no actual legal risk but it's pretty funny he got flustered.

I guess if they are more specific and there are imputations about the footy departments of respective sides and they both consist of 11 or less people (maybe even up to 18 due to some specific case law) then it might be able to be upheld that they are specifically defaming individuals without actually naming anyone too.

Interesting point! Defamation is not my area of expertise so I'm stretching to remember back to undergrad. Regardless, pretty funny if he did get flustered and have to make some calls.

Yeah, he's obviously not used at all to being called out which is why it's surprising to me more callers to trade radio don't do it. I'm actually shocked they didn't just mute the caller.

Oh no doubt he didn't say anything wrong, but radio has the power to mute the caller to let the "talent" talk freely. I'd guess you're right they don't have a producer at hand, or maybe they don't have a competent one.

We're apparently offering GWS a way better deal than Carlton which is unsurprising since they have nothing outside 3. Kennedy doesn't want to come to us though so it would take a big offer and huge change of heart to get him here. Carlton will likely find the picks to do it before trade ends though. Good of us to do our due diligence though, would love him at the Lions.
