The way Motlop has played in his past two finals is making me wonder about him again.

It shouldn't. I maintain we should go after motlop and I don't need any further evidence. The bloke has bucket loads of talent on the outside, exactly what we need. For the right price he's worth it because players with his level of talent are rare.

Remember Lever made AA squad of 40. He is very good. Didn't have a great game last night but I did like his reading of the play and his foot skills are well needed in our back 6.
21yo key defender will only get better.

I've changed my position on him. He's a risk worth taking. I suspect a number of clubs are considering him though.

I think 2 first rounders are fine for Lever tbh. This year's pick 11 isn't going to be anything special and we seem to thrive at finding hidden gems anyway. I'd back the recruiting department to find one player they're happy with after pick 25. Next year's first rounder is ideally around 15. if so, pick 11 and 15 for Lever, in my eyes that's a fair trade.
It's not like our list has any hugely pressing needs, we have Stretch coming through to those who say we need a wingman and we should have cap to pursue a Motlop if we really feel we need him anyway.
Otherwise I'm more than happy to keep taking punts on guys like Hannan, Vandeberg, Harmes, etc. with our later picks and continue to add quality depth. We are already upgrading Maynard and Smith anyway who look to be good finds

A lot of big ifs in your post. This year's pick 11 isn't going to be anything special? He could be the next Fyfe or Cripps!

And unfortunately, as much as I cross my fingers with them, players like Stretch, Hannan, VDB, Harmes, Maynard and Smith are all unproven at AFL level - we've seen glimpses from all of them but no sustained periods of serious, consistent, AFL-quality form. They all (hopefully) may come on but they also may never,

Lever is a gun but he's out of contract - when (if) he nominates us, that gives us a fair deal of leverage and we won't overpay. One first and either a second rounder or a first-round upgrade (ie - our pick 10 and next year's first rounder for Lever and their pick 17/18 this year) is about on the money.

I'm not convinced we'll give up 2 firsts for Lever. He's leaving anyway and I can't see any other team coughing up 2 firsts. It'll be a first and second. Unless the Watts rumours are true and we get 6 from pies for Watts and 10. Although I'm sure we'd get something else back to. Adelaide would probably accept 6 alone for Lever.

If Adelaide do want 2 first rounders do you think Richmond would do 10 and 27 for 15 & 16 or 17 as Naish might slip past that first pick 10 before getting nominated they could then possibly get another top 10 player as well as Naish?
This could work. The picks are worth about the same in points.

They'll start with asking for 2 first rounders. But wouldn't be surprised if its a first and a second. If they won't budge then we may have to move a player on. Perhaps Watts to get a pick better than our second.

Any interest in Wellingham or Trent McKenzie? Or Tom Lamb? I wanted him in his draft year from memory...
Wouldn't mind looking at Mckenzie great skills off half back. Not too sure on Lamb. I believe he had a reasonable year in WAFL. Wellingham I think is a no. 30yo next year and not getting any better.
