Let's draft people who can mark the ball. We don't do that enough. I see lots of our players spoil (each other as often as not) and a kind of cluster**** of bodies which occasionally comes good with Hannan nailing a goal from a crouch shaped like the letter z - which is nice, but it just doesn't feel like a sustainable winning formula

I love our 'five defenders all try and spoil the same ball' strategy. Few things sum up the MFC 2007-present as well as that.

I also love it when they all go up and Nev is stuck out the back one on one with a key forward

Do we read anything into Frost being dropped saying something about Lever?
Yep, we can read something into it. He's been sh#t last month or so... Geez some other blokes are lucky as well. Watts and Harmes noticeably. Pedersen lucky as well that the Weid isn't knocking the door down. We have so many out of form or struggling after injury there aren't too many besides maybe Jetta, Oliver, OMac and Gawn who have been consistently good last couple of weeks. Need a big lift by too many I feel. Saints by 30...

What is Balic worth? was pick 38 a few years ago, would be keen to get him.
Imo a pick around the mid 20's.Balic has only played 4 games but you can see he has really good poise for some one who has played so little.I'd definitely prefer him to stay but he wants out.He will be a quality AFL player in time.

Someone who has played 4 games doesn't get the same value area as Hibberd/Melksham/Vince/Caddy etc. You'll be lucky to get a 3rd

Up forward, Weideman is the future? He has the hands, but probably just doesn't have the body yet, gets thrown off a pack to easily.

It's about potential though having only played 4 games.
Nathan Freeman went at pick 10 and was traded for what ended up being pick 38. He was entirely about potential.

Balic went at pick 38. I don't really see how his value could go up?

Bit of talk probably BS about Jessie might return home if it was the case we should go hard for Lynch (GC) make them an off they can't refuse before he come FA next year. As much as I love Watts it might be time to pull the pin. My dream trade would be only if Jessie wants to go home, Jessie to Freo, Freo's 1st round and next years 2nd and player maybe Balic or Tucker? To Melbourne. We send that picks to Adelaide for Lever. Our first round pic and Watts to GC for Lynch. Like or Hate?

Lynch would be a massive upgrade on Jesse and Lever will be a far better footballer than Watts. I just can't see Lynch leaving GC.

Where are you reading the Hogan stuff? I wouldn't blame him if he wants to go home but I'd be demanding Freos 1st + a young player as a starting point.

Freo's first plus Balic? Not sure I'd take that or not. Hoges has so much potential. But he's not a big key forward and he doesn't tackle. Plus he's not a big or reliable kick at goal. On the flip side he has amazing footy smarts and is a natural competitor and winner. Kennedy at WC was ducking hopeless early days and is now a gun ff. Hoges has shown ten times what Kennedy had at the same point in their careers.

A first and Balic? No way.

We could give a 3rd rounder for Balic, so ends up being a 1st for hogan? He is contracted so really if he wants to go they will have to come up with a bit more than that.
