I've only seen highlights, however Starcevich looks like he'll be a player. Strong, quick and can mark. Would be an asset to our team.
Yeah reckon he's got all the attributes, quick, elite kick and super strong. Not many guys get him to ground. My mate coached him and said one of best listeners he's coached, just needs to find more of footy.

Yep ..... and for me there lies the problem that I have with taking him with one of our second rounders , if we did we would need to be pretty darn sure we could improve his consistency and thats part of why he needs to find more of the footy.
No doubting he does a lot of things well just needs to do it more often.

Got to like Miers. When they have handball practice, he is excused and goes off for goal kicking practice. Love the way he gets the ball and just knows where the goals are. Instinct.
His kicking action is horrific but it seems to get results.

He looks a lot like Ben Nason and that scares me.

Seen him twice at the gym in the past two weeks, no weights work, fittness work only....
Posted a while back that Masten and the club needed to decide one way or the other what body shape Masten should be. He's currently an inbetweener. Not big and not leaner / quicker. Looks like he's going leaner.

Agree that the style ( or lack there of ) looks woeful and ungainly.

But here is the thing its generally effective ..... weird as that may sound, he he hits as many targets as some most of his cohort.

Brander plays both ends and that always rates very highly in my assessment of talent, not sure where he is best suited to at this stage of his development, but thats not a bad problem for the coaching team to have to work there way through.
I do understand what you are saying with Naughtons kicking. Reminds me of glass players learn to play within their limitations and can make good decisions. I just can’t help wanting to vomit when I see him kick though, would probably need to completely start again with his ball drop upon entering AFL system. I reckon if we went naughton it would just be WA bias.

Finally somebody agrees with me. I feel the same. I think he has all the “tools” just need to harness them and put them together. Feels like the type that should do well in an afl system with good development.

As far as im concerned if a player who's been in the system for years can't read the play by the time they reach AFL level they never will. Lack or production is second to my concerns over a player after not being able to kick. If they are playing a role where they need to get a decent amount of the ball and they can't find it, don't draft them imo.

Patmore didn't look as bad as i thought he'd be. Haven't really bothered with him as he was hosed down pretty quickly on here.

From all the talk it sounded like he was a Marsden crab who accumulated pointless possessions without hurting the opposition.

Looked decent enough to me for a late pick like 69 or a spot on the rookie list should that fail. The Jetta acquisition hasn't worked so I'm not against planning for another outside midfielder to develop at the top level. Particularly one with such good character, if anything it would keep Jetta honest.

Ahaha didn't the news pump him as a dusty Martin lol?

Masten is the anti dusty.

Edit: you can't go too far the other way

Agree he may be around later. I wouldn't want us using too early picks on him but I like his athleticism. Very agile and quick and a decent build. I think he naturally puts his head over the ball and plays with intensity/works hard and has decent skills. So that to me suggests he has the attributes to potentially develop as an inside mid at afl level. + WA boy bias

In summary elite athleticism coupled with effort is what I like about him. Just think he's been underrated because his production hasn't been too high but I'm hoping he could develop.

Given he was an early bloomer and fell
away horribly through 2016 and most of 2017, I wouldn’t be too confident on that development.

Comparison is Hayden who was highly touted 15 year old has produced more at Colts level in a shorter period of time. He got a combine invite and broke NN running vertical leap record. But hasn’t produced an outstanding televised game.
