From Zookata's phantom draft he has WCE picking:

13. Constable
21. Oscar Allen
26. Brayden Ainsworth
32. Dylan Moore
37. Andrew Mcpherson

No real surprise with the first 2 picks- fair-good chance of that being correct.

The last 3 are interesting though as they are all names I don't recall seeing mentioned yet on this thread (3000+ posts).

Those in the know- what do you make of these 3 kids and would WCE be looking at them?
Yuck... Don't mind Allen @ 21 but Ainsworth at 26 is reaching would be more like pick 37 as an over ager. Moore would be more like a 3rd or 4th round prospect as he is a long way off being afl ready he would get hammered. Can't say i've ever noticed Mcpherson or seen watched him play so i wont comment on that selection.

I don't get the take Kelly at 26 because Carlton might take him at 30 argument.

Do we take worpel at 21 also if there are rumors that Geelong might take him at 22.

Who cares what other clubs are doing, at 26 we take the player we rate the most, not the player we fear might be taken by another club . If kelly is deemed avilable at 26 then so be it, but if there is a better option (i.e. Zac Bailey) then I sure do hope we take him.
If teams want a certain player then they have to take into account what other teams are doing. If we want Kelly then we have to take him before pick 30 or face the likelihood of missing out on him. This will be the case even if Kelly is generally rated lower in the thirties or even lower. If teams are not fussed about particular players then they don't worry about what others are doing, but choose from those still left. But I think this would rarely be the case in the early rounds. If we want Ryan then I think we will need to take him before pick 69.

Christian is quicker than Starcevich, doesn’t play quite as tall (185cm) but plays gets more of the ball. He plays inside and out and attacks the goal face. If he’s not rookies this year I’d be aggressive in picking up if he translates that Colts form into Ressies/ League.

Starcevich is very much in the same pool. Late/ rookie.

If Starcevich doesnt go by pick 37 he will not be there at 69 and that will be a bad error of judgement by our recruiters.

The under 18 All-Australian has been seriously underated. He has an excellent football brain, kicking is excellent, already has core body strength and is an aggressive tackler and comepitor. I rate him higher than Hunter Clarke who I have serious misgivings about.

With the way Richmond played this year with smaller very speedy players that provide great pressure.
That is something Starcevich can do and does at colts level, his pressure is first class has super speed,
loves to tackle can take a mark and is so very hard at it.
The question on him has been his production as a mid.
But he has other strings to his bow so i think he can have a good afl career.
I would use pick 32 on him and would be happy.
I also believe wce are very interested in him due to his speed.
At last some common sense. Starcevich is a poential gun in our own backyard and if we miss out on him I will be seriously pissed off.

In listening to the latest Twomey podcast.

Asked how likely that the following three last to pick 15:
- Constable: more likely than not
- Higgins: maybe 50/50 or better than 50/50 (he didn't give those odds just my assessment from his comments), cited GWS or Eagles as potentially being interested
- Clark: not likely, saw him in the 8-14 range

Higher than Clark?? Interesting. What makes you say that?

Clark is a bolter, really might push into the top 8

Twomey on...

Potential players in the mix at 13: Clark Higgins Richards coffield Naughton brander allen

Kelly's range: 22 onwards. Cats and west coast linked.

Starcavich: 20 onwards. Really mixed views from recruiters.

Ryan: west coast could be in the mix in the 30s or others in the 40s

Allen sliding to 21: unlikely but some possibility

Picks 7/8: coffield. Probably too early for Higgins. Clark in the mix. Brayshaw and Stephenson if they got through.

Really hope we get Higgins at 13.
Agree. Given Higgins at 13, I would then go the following:

21 - L Fogarty (fallback Bailey)
26 - Bailey (fallback Kelly)
32 - Coleman-Jones (fallback Worpel or Moore if CC-J not there)
37 - Worpel/Moore/Houlahan (assuming Coleman-Jones taken at 32, if another mid then go Taylor/Miller/Kreuger)

Then really open and too hard to What If but something like
69 - Schloithe or Hayden would be good picks giving some of the mature ready to battle
89 - Scott Jones as ruck support
Rookies - Banfield, England or a riskier option

Ok genius, redo that draft keeping in mind that it was an open secret that Rioli didn't want to leave Melbourne and Adelaide were considered to have reached for Dangerfield especially since they overlooked Ebert who most people thought they'd take

Three of the four players drafted in 2007 have played 150+ games and one was a club B&F in 2012. The fourth was a talented but skinny project KPF who had an undisclosed medical condition that made it difficult to build the aerobic capacity for AFL

I know you hate Masten and he hasn't become the player we hoped but he's still had a better career than Morton, Myers and Palmer who were the others considered possibilities with our first pick

Plenty of ammunition to have a crack at our drafting in recent years but I don't think 2007 is part of it
Harry Taylor ( WA boy ), Alex Rance ( WA Boy ), Callan Ward, Easton Wood and Cale Hooker say hi Mr know it all.

I've had a sneaking suspicion Higgins will slide to our pick - and I'd love to take him: he'd be my first preference assuming Clark is gone.

GWS is our biggest threat there but if they take Richards we could get Higgins.
