would you be interested if we traded gaff and got a top 10 pick as part of the deal for Gaff. That would give us two top 10 picks.

Happy with the Gaff for a top ten pick idea, but I would take a more constant inside mid with both those picks.

Was sitting with a Carlton recruiter at one of the Championship games and he has seen a lot of Stephenson over the last three years and said no question that he is a prodigious talent but he doesn't always come out to play.
He thought he was a great fit for a side that were already there but thought he would struggle at a team that needed to do the hard yards to climb and claw its way up the ladder.
He needs good players around him and if he has that he will thrive.

Knightmare write up:

Playing a pivotal role in Western Australia winning their third of four Under-18 Championships game, the nephew of Collingwood's Craig Starcevich, Brandon Starcevich, 187cm, 88kg, helped the Western Australian midfield get on top. Starcevich gathered 22 disposals, 14 contested possessions, eight tackles, five clearances and one score assist.

What first jumps out at you with Starcevich is his power in the contest. He wins the ball at the goal face but also delivers a powerful "don't argue" and will barge through tackles with force and if unable to break the tackle, handball to a target without going to ground.

His courage was also notable, keeping his eyes on the ball, running forward with the flight, taking the mark and having the strength to hold onto the mark as he got hit hard.

The other impressive element against Victoria Country was his ball use. Nine of Starcevich's twelve kicks were effective, with a combination of long kicks and short kicks where he lowering his eyes and hit the target.

Starcevich may feature this year mid-draft as a powerful ball winning midfielder who can rest up forward.

10 for Gaff is robbery - Vosso will go to the clink!

I wouldn't mind getting one inside mid and KPF that will replace Jk with those two picks.

That's a more generous write-up than I had previously heard although I can't say I have seen enough to form my own opinion. At this very early stage he should be available at our third or fourth pick.

At this stage IMO only Brander falls in the top 10 as a KPP.

So vishy who would you as the mid?

Is what i was thinking, Ainsworth is a definite look in at our first though Him DV Yeo Sheed nelson Duggan Midfield

What do people think about moving Lycett on for what we can get, pay out Giles and getting Goldsteign from North somehow.

NickNat will need time and support and Goldie is 30 next year same as Kennedy. Goldie is on decent $$ but has lost form and Norths are in rebuild mode and are chasing big free agents.

What this year shows us is we need a 200cm ruck who can ruck.

Hard to say what it would cost but maybe not as much as people think.

I hope not I want a player with our first that has either a point of difference or at least a mid with a better than low fifties disposal efficiency.

Goldie only really works as a stand alone ruck though. I'm fine with trading Lycett for something but I don't really want Goldstein back.

I've said it before, but it looks even easier now. Trade Lycett for Mitch, Scott's an Adelaide boy.

Pick up Goldstein for not that much, North connection, good cover.....

Vardy is only 25.....we then draft a young ruck man.

Goldstein is on big money at North, so we'd have to take over that contract. 2 years to run on his deal also I think so North can demand overs for him.

Add to it he's in decline rapidly and getting Goldstein is just a bad trade all round for us, even as cover.

So who are their first and second key forwards.

Truth of the matter is they don't have a genuine KPF on their list.
Vanilla 1 and vanilla 2 and if Mitch Mcgovern joined the dockers he would be Vanilla 3.All three are not true key forwards in the Pavlich mould but hey the dockers are so desperate I think they would outbid us.Swapping Lycett for McGovern would be a good idea if the Crows are interested in a proppy forward/ruckman.Would rather see us use our first two picks picking up midfielders.Either that or trade in ormaybe free agent midfielder. Also look at third or fourth round draft picks maybe Tim Kelly or sombody from the state leagues who is mature and speedy and could fit in straight away.We seem to have too many half back flankers.

So Monocle who would you pick with pick 10

Assuming both are available then .

Either O'Brien or Higgins.....very much torn between the two.

O'Brien is a silky outside mid, who hits targets and runs the lines.
BUT
Higgins hits two needs in the one player , quality inside mid and also a small forward.

It would seem odd to focus our resources toward adding a ruck when a) Lycett and Naitanui should return to fitness and b) the midfield remains a pressing problem.

All I want is a player that can change direction at pace. The only problem comes when you list the players that fit the bill - Martin, Kelly, Gray, Bontempelli, Shiel, Treloar... Not sure that any of them are available for Gaff + Masten.

I have had a minimal interest in this years draft. Only started caring last night.

So im just asking questions from the experts like ya self.

Would you be interested in trading 2 top ten picks for for say a top 3 pick and change? So we get a chance to go after a big bodied mid like Rayner or Luke david-uniacke?

No and let me explain.
I would always go two for the price of one, just law of averages stuff.
Example I would much prefer Cerra and Higgins as a package than Rayner.

L D-U is the better mid at this point in time. Rayner has no tank and is better suited as a burst forward.

Cerra could be the number 1 pick
