Can we please stop suggesting we are going to get a GWS player? It aint going to happen. Not even the WA boys want to come home (this includes those at GC)...

Sorry, didn't realise we had an agreement with GWS to not ever recruit one of their players.

And Mcinnes survives another year .would rather throw liam mcbean a lifeline than keep Mcinnes on the list

McInnes fought the good fight this year and he should be proud of himself and his bigfooty sponsor for being so kick ass, however, he moves like he's 205cm tall and he marks like he's 192cm tall and that just doesn't work.

He's got some nice features though, his kicking his top rate and when the chips are down you can expect him to lift or lay some big hits. We do need players that lift when things are going to shit....

Still, when he was getting 20 touches a game things were 50/50 for him. Now that he's getting it like 12-14 times, he's just a good WAFL player. I doubt he's with us next year.

We could possibly have jumper numbers 1, 2, 7, 10 and 11 free by the end of this season. Im gonna assume venables and Partington might get an upgrade. while the first 2 picks of this years draft get two of those early numbers. if Gaff goes, 3 will also be available.

I don't know why but I like the idea of 2 or 7 worn by Venables.

24 seems prestigious but the club don't seem to value them as they used to. 30 seems neglected and barely does it go to high draft picks or etc recently. early numbers seem to be their favourite numbers.

TB should have got Glassy's #23 two years ago. He could probably take Emac's #16 if Emac leaves.

Cole will probably get 10 like all the former #28's have done so recently.

Now montangna is injured we can probably get him on the cheap. Need some midfield leaders and we could get him for only our first pick and a decent young player like Duggan.

Make it happen Simmo!

I see Venners in #1. Don't think 3, 7 or 11 will be vacated personally.

Partington to take #10, first draftee to take #2?

EDIT: Also could see Barrass taking #1 and Venables #2.

I rekon Masto will be gone.

For me 37 suits TB and he has been in the system pretty long.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if one of the young mids take 11 as internally everyone loves Priddis.

Wouldn't mind if the club did something similar to Richmond where the captain of the club wears a certain number in tribute.

Having the captains wear the number 24 to honour Whoosh would be a nice touch.

Port does #1 as well. My only query is that it would look odd if you have a genuine superstar of the games with +150 odd game and they get captaincy in their late 20's and they have to change from a number they made iconic to another.

What the ****!
I like a drink as much as the next man but lay off the juice buddy.
What did we pay for Mitchell again? - That's roughly what we should pay for Montagna...If he doesn't retire he'll only go around 1 more year.

If we have up to 12 players going we will need to get creative to fill those spot without going too deep into the draft pool

Out senior list
Mitchell , butler , lecras , mackenzie (RFA) , wellingham , hill , masten (trade) Giles ( re-rookie )
8 spots

Out Rookie list
Tunbridge Petrie mcinnes
2 spots + (Giles)

Emac will hopefully net us band 4 or 5 compo
pick 40 or 50

Masten hopefully trade for a pick around 40

currently gives us picks 10 , 28 and 3 picks between 40 and 50

players that will be cheap and have talent .

Declen Montford - from north out of contract wants to come home . Was pick 60 I liked him pre draft . Has had 2 afl preseason and played a handful of games has some useful tools for afl in pace , ability to break tackles , good chase down tackling . Probably get him for throw away pick

Jared Garlett - showed he was afl quality before quitting gold coast Suns and coming home for family reasons . Has played a mediocre season for South freo but put back into an afl environment he could recapture him form .

Matt Kennedy (GWS ) - inside bull in the mold of josh kennedy . If we put a big offer in we may be able to get him cheap like a few clubs did last . GWS will probably be happy to let him go cheap pick wise if it means they keep Hopper / Kelly / Smith .

Tim Kelly - south freo , is a plug and play mature age mid that will probably be around late draft . Hopefully can put out the same output as menigola .

Which what Cotchin did to break their newly started tradition, refused to change numbers haha.

But end of the day it should be an honour to be a clubs captain and don the same number of the other leaders before you.

I am seriously concerned for you javaguice

Stay of these :pill::syringe::pill::syringe::pill::syringe::pill:

Because there is no way you could propose that trade with out being on some pretty heavy stuff.

By the way are you with HBF ?

I actually don't want to use too many draft picks, probably 5 is about the maximum for me unless we get additional early picks in trades.

Probably better list management to have Wellingham or Hill as depth on a 1 year deal than a 6th round draft pick that is highly unlikely to make it and requires a minimum 2 year contract.

I disagree completely. Each captain has their own unique personality and number. I really back what Cotchin did. Why would you want to change number? Maybe if there was a separate captains locker at the new facilities, which you put your individual number on. That would be cool.

What a ****around too. When Tredrea became captain he went from 16 to 1 then back to 16. Mean while Danyle Pearce went 41 to 16 then to 6 when Tredders relinquished the captaincy

Agree, I'd be disappointed if TB left 37. I like players getting a number and owning it. Maybe he could go to 11 like old legendary fb Milli

The more cuts we make (particularly if they include LeCras and Hill) the more slightly warm I am to getting Matera for a third rounder.

If we have a massive cull of senior players, i don't mind keeping tunners for one more year on the rookie list. Play him in the guts for ep and potentially throw him in the seniors. A player like him would be beneficial in a rebuilding side.

I have to strongly disagree. 5 years into his career with us and he's played 49 games at all levels.

There's still a pretty big question mark on his ability to find the football, even for a half forward.

Then there's the issue of how he'll rebound from a while out of the game. Do we give a guy who'll be 25 early next season 12 months to find his feet?

He's gotta go.

we've had bigger hacks on our list for as long or longer. IMO we lack players with mongrel and physicality and it might not be a bad idea having him be around the ep guys or in our side. If he stays fit he'd keep someone like Cripps honest next season.

I only want him if we have a huge cull of senior players.
