It's weird- I was watching the draft tracker at the time of the draft and was convinced we were going Gov Jnr with our 2nd pick and was a little bit deflated at the time. Then we didn't and he went earlier than I thought and I was disappointed!

I'm not worried we missed out on Blakely as I'm not convinced he has the skills to be a full time midfielder but missing Gov Jnr is much worse IMO!
Would've thought that Blakely at our 2nd was more likely at the time, was hoping Gov Jr might be available at our 3rd. Gov Jr definitely turned out to be much better than Lamb, but Lamb was a lot more highly rated at the time. Wish that we had gotten him though.

From what I had heard pre draft we weren't all that keen on Blakely. Whether that was due to concerns on disposal or personality related I'm not sure.

Lamb was expected to go top 20- I can understand us taking him. I still hold out hope that he makes it, he's still young and he has supposedly turned a corner with his attitude. Look at Karpany- gone for all money early last year, now starting to blossom given the opportunity. It just won't be here, I don't think.

I would be more pissed if Gov went to Freo then when Judd went to Carlton... Surely Gov wouldn't do that?
Probably a good chance Jeremy could move over at some stage in his career , really WCE need to provide an environment where he wants to stay
Downside is would Ross Lyon allow Jeremy to play his own game as easily .... at least the Eagles would get some pretty good compensation if the worst thing did happen and he did move over .

Sooo I herd that 2019 there is a high chance the both Gov brothers will be playing at FREO... For the love of god I hope this is not true. To put this rumour to rest I hope we pick up Mitch Gov at the end of the year

Maybe these rumors of Gov to Freo will get WC to ramp up the interest in his brother a bit?
Thats one option.

Other could be that if we do a deal for Mitch you guys get on the phone to us and see what can be done a year earlier while you have the leverage?
Unlikely i know.

Wants to stay at Adelaide if the price is right but Fremantle would be offering $750k x 5 to make sure they are a chance of getting the big one Jeremy , if Jeremy is unsigned midway through next season there will be concern ....not until then though and if he does go we feed him up on Big Macs in the later part of next season , he may never recover his fitness .

With sammy and pridda retiring thats probably 800k extra in the cap, and lecras and butler probably bring that up to 1.5 mil assuming they retire. Plus the extra 2 or so mil in the cap increase, we really should be making sure jeremy stays, and then having a crack at mitch. If freo are offering 750 I think we could afford to offer 600-650 given the cap increase. The bonus of playing with his brother and not being in a forwardline of mccarthy, kersten and ballantyne should be appealing.

After that we will still have stacks of cash to throw at an a grade mid, surely we will throw stupid money at guys like cripps, rocky, coniglio, hopper, kelly, david swallow, duncan, powell pepper. One more quality mid next year and I think we will be much better off. Surely with the amount of money we've got to play with we can nab one of them.

If Fremantle want to throw 5 x 750 at MMcGov they can knock themselves out.

I doubt there will be much at Freo to entice Jeremy over once they are paying Fyfe, Neale, Sonny, McCarthy, MmcGov big bucks.

We still have the leverage next year as he will be a restricted free agent. We match, you need to offer 2 first rounders with 1 likely needing to be a top 10 pick.

There was a bit of talk last week that Jeremy was not happy how Priddas was treated and his brother Mitch has said no way I want to play for West Coast based on that.
