He'd rather go play for Ross Lyon who famously announced after the 2011 GF that four of his players had "retired" when it was complete news to them?
It was also Ross the boss who drew the players associations ire for asking his players to do too much over their holiday period.

I guess some players would like that but I get the impression that the McGovern's those kinds of players.

Why would any interstater come to us when Freo have the best training facilities and post-match recovery regime in the southern hemisphere? We will lose every homesick WA lad to the dockers every time just on that alone. I dont know the specifics of why our Lathlain facilities are not up to the same standard, but its a massive ball drop from the club all the same.
Who said our new premises at Lathlain won't be to the same standard? From what has been reported they will be state of the art.

These guys are paid professionals. Sure it's always good to think about the chance to play at your dads club before the draft but once you're in the afl, the club you supported as a kid means nothing. Yeo is a good example. He just wanted to get home.

The McGoverns are only playing because of west coast realistically. We gave Jeremy the chance and without him breaking out like he did, Mitch wouldve had less hype. Surely that means more than a handful of games their dad played somewhere else.

Don't mean to nitpick because I agree with your post but Sheed has always had a very good run with selection, particularly in 2014 when he was awful.
I feel you dawg, but you're talking 2014 first year crab Sheed. Who certainly wasn't great but still got played.

We know his 2015 was impressive, but I'm thinking more 2016/2017 Sheed who Simmo kept dicking around by dropping him, making him earn his stripes in the WAFL, and also giving him the odd clip in his press conferences. More so than any other player on our list.

Word on the grapevine is that Ezy will be playing for freo next year anyway. Haven't heard anything about Gov but Gov jr was always heading to Freo.
When they were talking about a "well known eagle" - my mind did immediately think EMac.

I'm a fan of his and like him in the side but could definetly understand his reasoning if he decided to seek opportunities elsewhere at the end of the year.

Mitch McGovern is overrated.
He would worth sfa if he played for a Brissy and if his name wasn't McGovern.

It's going to be funny him struggling at Freo when he has the oppositions best tall on him and spuds like Kersten, tabaner and McCarthy not block or support him.
People are more worried about Jeremy following him across, not so much about losing Mitch to Freo.

What sort of currency (pick wise) would people be willing to give up for Josh Kelly?

Guidelines are in place for clubs to use a first round pick every so often, so we wont forever be in a cycle of giving up our first for Reddingham types but Kelly would take a bit.

Former pick 2 and has shown to be worthy of such..
Would our mid range/ mid table 2017 AND 2018 firsts be doable? We could throw in Giles. ;)

Its a lot to give up (and as always, "next years draft is supposed to be great")
Richmond are trying to lure everyone but will have lower picks than us, North forgot to tank but are looking at still get a high draft pick, just not pick 1.

GWS were stripped of their first rounder for hiding Whitfield from drug testers (super harsh given that he was also suspended for half a season)

GWS will implode if they don't trade back in another first rounder. They wont know what to do with themselves.

It wouldn't surprise me if they start calling out names in the first round before being escorted from the room for unruly behavior in spectacular meltdown fashion.

If the the report is true of 12 players to be shown the door come the end of the year. Who are we replacing them with?
Have we been linked to any? SA supporter so don't get to hear all the mumblings that a Perth supporter would.

Ah Chee?
M McGovern?
B Matera?

With some of the players that have retired or out of contact surely we have a bit of cash to get a A grader mid?

Love love for the Eagles to sign Duggan to an extension right now. Worried he might join his mate Lever back in Vic

I can't recall it super accurately but had a look on footywire. After his AFL return in Round 18 he only missed one game (presumably dropped) for the rest of the season. He missed round 1 this year (through injury from memory?) then was dropped after collecting just 11 disposals in round 2. Came back in Round 5 and has been in the side since.

I'm not trying to be argumentative but I just think Sheed has actually been given a good run although you're right in saying Simmo did talk about him to the press a bit.

Ah Chee - out of contract but might be tempted to go to the Gold Coast to play with his brother
McGovern - looking more likely he signs a new 2 year deal with the Crows
Matera - Karl Langon said on the weekend after talking with his manager only Freo has expressed interest so far

If Mitch does re-sign with Adelaide, we need to extend Gov's contract immediately for at least 3-4 more years. Don't really understand why we haven't signed him to a long term contract yet.

12 is a lot.
So the players we're expecting to move on at the end of the season are Priddis, Mitchell and Brophy.
Others who may finish up include Butler, LeCras, Snadden, Petrie. Masten and Giles.
I'm not sure we'll move on more than 7-8 players in total.

Thats one option.

Other could be that if we do a deal for Mitch you guys get on the phone to us and see what can be done a year earlier while you have the leverage?
Unlikely i know.
Pick 5 plus Griffen Louge and its done.

If he wants out he can go. We can cover him.

Pick 5 plus 10 could set us up big time.

We'll even sweeten the deal and throw in Masten.

Maybe these rumors of Gov to Freo will get WC to ramp up the interest in his brother a bit?
I'd say that's exactly what M.McGoverns manager, through paid pundits, is doing. Simply building credit after the weekend he had which is probably the most 'visible' of his performances. Testing any and all waters, classic

Im thinking it could be Wellingham.

Out of contract, 29yrs old and likely wouldnt want to move back East.

Wonder if we'd get anything for him? A 3rd rounder?

Call me a conspiracy theorist but I think M McGovern and his manager would have a lot to gain by starting this rumour about them wanting to play for the same side.

Freo might overpay in the hopes of luring Jeremy too, while we might do the same just to ward off Freo poaching one of our guns.
