When they were talking about a "well known eagle" - my mind did immediately think EMac.

I'm a fan of his and like him in the side but could definetly understand his reasoning if he decided to seek opportunities elsewhere at the end of the year.
I wonder if Fremantle will throw a truckload of cash at him, would be nice to get decent compo for him

Gonna throw my 2 cents in regarding the Govs. Although we don't need Mitch, he is a very talented player that knows how to find the goals. IF he wants to come home we would decently try chase him. FREO are obviously in the box seat. Will offer stupid money and have more to trade. I think he will cost at least a first rounder. Partly because of the name, and partly because of the demand for him. A fair few Vic clubs are interested as well. Will we give a 1st? I hope not. Would a wellingham/Emac Compo and a 2nd get it done? I Am still of the belief that Lycett will be involved in the deal. I don't see how we can play Nic, Vardy, Lycett and our talls. Plus if Petrie plays in, which if Lycett goes I would be happy with. Secondly, if you asked me a month ago if Old Mc would ever switch to the purples I'd have literally laugh for a month. I have heard rumours lately from a few that there are a fair few unhappy eagles. I'm hearing the players themselves are a tight group as always but are unhappy with the coaching. Not sure if that's regarding Simmo or assistants or East Perth. If Old Mc is unhappy and Young Mc goes to Freo he could actually be tempted to go. The eagles would demand and arm and a leg and rightly so. Who knows really. There are so many rumours flying atm, but my feeling is for our club champion to sign a new deal and then not even 2 months later retire, I feel something is amiss.

Im thinking it could be Wellingham.

Out of contract, 29yrs old and likely wouldnt want to move back East.

Wonder if we'd get anything for him? A 3rd rounder?
At best, given his age I would have thought.. Could be useful in the scheme of things now, though given we will have some spots to fill.

Was reading somewhere that the draft this year is a little bit different in the sense that as you go later in the draft there is a large discrepancy of who clubs rate. So although the depth isn't there- clubs may find themselves picking up guys legitimately rated top 30 in the 3rd/4th/5th rounds.

Two weeks ago people were saying the club needs to be ruthless but don't have the strength to do so.

can't win I guess.

NicNat wants to play in Priddis's farewell game also and sent out a few tweets in support of our aging stars recently ...seems the situation has affected the Eagle players .

I feel as though the players are a close group and will bond together but if one jumps ship to another club, many may follow. If we miss finals I reko the shit will hit the fan.

It might be the day some of idiots top leave as well and further sink us into a state of obscurity.
It might finally mean we get a proper rebuild.

Should have theoretically got rid of priddis 6 years ago.

If the Rumours are true Jezza is an idiot and would deserve all the abuse and etc he would receive if he jumps ship.

Club gets him in a rookie list and persisted with him season after season, even though he never showed any professionalism at all. At another club, he would have most likely been delisted early.

That's good. Players realising that their AFL career doesn't last forever and that poor outcomes have serious consequences to them and people that are good mates.

I highly doubt that.
Wellingham considered retiring prior to 2015 due to his poor form and losing love for the game. At 29 I don't see him going to another team.

Anyway I think we will give him another year. Need to have some players to drop next year also and no point taking 10 guys in a draft and having a lot of low picks on two year for contracts.

And just on the potential 12 players reported, it's just shitty journalism. They see who is out if contract and create a story.

DWTA. Once his contract is up his obligations are fulfilled and he can do what he likes. Why should he stay if he (hypothetically) doesn't want to?

You wouldn't take pick 5 alone for McGovern?

I don't want to trade him but if he said he wants to play for the purples, and they offered us pick 5... well it's probably fair.
Nope, he's worth more than pick 5. What did the giants reluctantly take for Boyd, about pick 5 and Griffen?
5 and Neale would be fairer.

Okay yes to be fair I was focussing on the Logue part of the deal which I didn't like. I'll rephrase my post.

Pick 5 is probably fair market value although if he was contracted I'd push for something else.
