Fair call. Whilst respect your opinion, Hill won't be leaving. Still adds something to our forward line, at worst case scenario he warrants a bench spit, and I can't stand hill. Masto won't we traded, not because he's my player sponsor but because we just don't trade senior players unless they request it. From everything I hear Mitch loves it in Adelaide and won't be coming home, we can still hope. I'm 50/50 on Rockliff, for what we have to pay him I'd rather throw money else where. To injury prone and I personally think he's overrated. The 2017 Trade / FA / Draft - the best realistic outcome
Coming In
Going out
- FA in Tom Rockliff - 28 in 2018, mates with Redden / Yeo, inside mid to cover the eventual retirement of Priddis and Mitchell. Will move for success and if we retain Priddis and Mitchell plus add Rockliff the 2018 midfield with a returning NickNat will be a hard one to beat. Salary covered by loss of MacKenzie also as a FA.
- Trade in Mitch McGovern, 2nd round pick. The obvious replacement for Hill / Le cras when they retire. Will be on half decent money but not silly money.
- Retain our 1st pick and go best available, on a needs basis a quality tall forward.
- Eric MacKenzie FA - unless he returns to something close to his best and regains his spot Eric will move elsewhere, possibly Freo or even Essendon to reunite with Woosha.
- Karpany - possible inclusion in the McGovern trade. Likely back to SA or just delisted and rookied by a SA club.
- I know it's wishful thinking but Masten may well get pushed down the pecking order this year and may look elsewhere to get regular games. Again not sure on the relationship with Woosha but Essendon still need to bolster their midfield.
- Tom Lamb - the arrival of McGovern and the development of Waterman will mean times up for Lamb. Lucky to get anything for him unfortunately. Hope I'm wrong.
- Josh Hill - will all depend on out put and list demand. Possible rookie spot for depth.
- Sam Butler - same as Hill. A few yongsters nipping at his heels which is good. Fantastic player and club man, would be great to retain as a development playing coach at East Perth IMO.
- Mutimer - up to you young man. Needs to improve skills and decision making. Could Sam Mitchell turn this rough diamond into a winner? Rookie down grade?
- Matty Allen - a gut feeling we will retain as development depth. Big unit without being super tall. Late starter in AFL but he's a true leading FF just as Kennedy is and has a really nice set shot. Our midfield has been used to a strong leading FF for quite a while and we don't have a lot of them on the list.

Bit harsh on Marty Allen. Bloke will play for us at AFL level eventually.
Also don't see how we would trade in McGovern for a late second rounder. Karps won't make much difference.
I just saw that he was in your Outs and assumed you thought he'd be delistedHarsh on Allen. Really? I said he'd be retained for development depth and is a true leading FF. How's that harsh?
But he needs to continue to develop and improve.
What did the Swans get trading Tom Mitchell to the Hawks? Unless Mitch explodes this season he won't cost a 1st rounder.
What did we get for Ebert when he went to Port?
me too. I think Allen has the potential to do a Mcgovern. Spend a few years developing at East perth and then push for a spot in few years time. My only concern is that we might legit struggle to fit him as our third tall seems to be a resting ruckmen.I am quite excited to see how Allen progresses this season, any pressure on Darlings spot will be glorious.
Being as good as Gov is a little unrealistic as not many seasoned AFL players as as good as him, but i get your point that Allen may come out of nowhere and contribute.me too. My point is that Allen could be a development player for us. Someone the club see's as a talented player but will first need a few years of development for EP. Allens someone who had to spliit time with footy and cricket and never had preseason or anything till he got here. I wouldnt be surprised if ALlen is a main stay in the royals forward line this year and kick a few bags.Being as good as Gov is a little unrealistic as not many seasoned AFL players as as good as him, but i get your point that Allen may come out of nowhere and contribute.
He may take Darlings second fwd spot in 2 or 3 years when Keno is done and the king can take the number 1 and kick 70+.

What if i told you i was matt_bas all along?Matty Allen is also a full 3 years younger than Mitch who was already 20 when drafted by the crows. Allen doesn't turn 20 until October this year
Plenty of time for development and I'm looking forward to seeing him play at East Perth this year after a solid preseason where he's shed a fair amount of unnecessary bulk
Oh and mattybas has hacked your account

What did we get for Ebert when he went to Port?
For Port, I want us to do an reverse Ebert with the Pepper Shaker. Stay patient - and we need to hope that the Shaker does not sign an extension and that the Eagles are into his managers ear.God I'd love the Eagles to find a way to screw Port on a trade. I'm still dirty about that.
Yep I'm with you on mcjunior.would be great to pick up cheap but has shown a bit already .3rd tall is the least of our worries ,a true kpf should be our main target next trade/draft period plus inside mid and another forward pocketFor Port, I want us to do an reverse Ebert with the Pepper Shaker. In terms of Mitch McGovern, I am not seeing him as a high need. Why?
. Mitch McGovern is a 3rd tall. At 191 cm he is the same height as Waterman (4 years younger) and Darling (2 years older)
. We have Allen (at 192) in the development phase and 3 years younger
. There are a number of "not sure yet" such as Yeo or Lamb and possibly Rotham that are above 190 and could also be the 3rd tall
Would I like him at West Coast? Yes. But not at a high price.

If I recall correctly we got them early in the piece with the Downsborough, Bond and Lyle deal in 1996. As a result we ended up with Gardiner and Wooden. Gardiner was very good for us for a number of years and Wooden serviceable. We were certainly well ahead in that deal. Maybe Port had memories of this when Ebert wanted to move back home. Score 1 : 1
Mitch is not as heavy as Darling and plays smaller. Mitch is the perfect type of player we need to replace Le cras and Hill. These are the two medium sized half forwards who can play up the ground a bit but also can take a mark inside 50 one on one or after losing their defender.
He'd kick his 30 odd goals and possibly more.
Mitch may be smaller and not as talented or heavy as Darling but I reckon he shows twice as much heart ..
