If we take enough of them surely one day we'll finally hit on one that can actually move into the midfield?Keep doing what you do best, we are a hot bed of HBFs, much success!

So you're saying we should draft midfielders and turn them into half back flankers? How about this as an idea, keep drafting only midfielders until you get one that can play anywhere else, the chances of that is very high. Crazy idea I know, right guys?

Cripps from the blues in Perth meeting with his Manager.
Probably nothing in it... But what would it take to get him over!

Can confirm it's not a @WestCoastEagles staffer. It's Jason Dover from Cripps management company. #nothingtoseehere

Pat Cripps in Perth. @WestCoastEagles should be swooping
We could rotate 17 players through the centre square every game, the opposition wouldn't have a clue what we're doingI say we draft only midfielders, keep a ruckman and 4 KPPs and see how that goes. Unlimited flexibility in the midfield FTW.
WRT Bennell, I think that the move of Wellers and Shepp back affected his opportunities. Either way, minimal cost for an effective player. I again have the issue with development here too.Oh yeh, I understand rookie picks tend to be a raffle but that's my problem with our recent use of the rookie list, we either haven't had a ticket in the raffle or we've picked up someone elses used ticket off the floor from last years raffle.
Other teams use their rookie list to take risks on players, we use it in the most conservative way possible and it just doesn't work.
Disagree on Bennell being a success, he's only 27 this year and played 29 games with us over 3 seasons, if he was a success he'd still be on our list.
The only complete new player we've taken in the rookie draft that's played games since 2011 has been Sinclair. We've had 3 recycled players from other teams playing games in Petrie, Bennell and Tunbridge. So that's 4 players who weren't on our list previously that have gotten games. It's dead last in the AFL (again). That's in comparison to Sydney who in the same time have 14 new players on their rookie list who've played games (445 of them so far), teams like Collingwood and Melbourne have played 11 or 12 guys off the rookie list.
The thing is that we can all see it happening, there were 3 or 4 players last year who many wanted us to rookie from the WAFL and we're only now looking at those players this year when they're likely to go in the main draft. Same the year before and likely plenty of times before that too (I wasn't taking as much of an in depth interest in our recruiting back then). We're missing out on all these free hits to bring in recycled crap from other teams or to cover up our poor list management and willingness to give out contracts to spuds.
I'm not solely blaming O'Brien, I think the whole list management side of things needs a serious overview (in fact the whole football department probably does), but imo he is as big a part of the issue as anyone else.WRT Bennell, I think that the move of Wellers and Shepp back affected his opportunities. I agree on dialling back the reclamation projects tho, I don't believe we've had one succeed yet. Again, still not sure how much of that is the purview of RO'B.
don't get me excitedThis does sort off match up with some of the rumours that came up a couple months back.
Hope to God there's something in it.

Maybe we should just start everyone except JK and Gov lined up around the centre square and just get them to charge straight in as soon as the ball is bounced. Like the start of a demolition derby. It just might work, confuse everyone including yourself. I reckon we have more success with the chaos approach than the planned one. Planning doesn't seem to be the clubs strong point at the moment.

I can see the appeal, especially when so much of the game is played around the ball these daysLol. I was only half joking about recruiting only midfielders and keeping a core group of KPP. Flags are won with a flexible and strong midfield. Most good midfields can play anywhere and do well.

They better be careful considering that 55% of their revenue is from memberships and that there is no guarantee to fill a 60k stadium.

Lets trade in Nick Suban for lols.

We weren't lacking that sort of player, we drafted Rioli in the third round of the ND.
Not sure if serious? Having one first year player who we literally just drafted may not technically mean we are lacking that type of player but surely you can see that was a clear stuff up. I mean having a back up crumber on your list is just common sense considering he is a back up to a first year (admittedly mature age) player
