We used late first round picks on Redden and Wellingham, Redden is finally starting to deliver.

So whete would all those other top picks have come from exactly?
we were talking about our lack of under 25s .
that's 4 spots right there that would be under 25s now
Those trades have a knock on effect when we use our higher picks then going too deep into the draft with guys like collage Carter main cavka

Is it just me or does it seem like
Karpany and mutimer are pretty average footballers and won't cut it??
Or have we not seen enough of them to make a call?
I don't think they will make it, although Karpany has improved 10 fold his first few years and is a very good user of the ball with a neat side step that can weave through traffic. If he can further improve this offseason now he has had a bit more of a taste of AFL he may make it, but not at his current level.

Karps is classy football but doesn't get enough of it regularly and isn't athletic or damaging enough to hurt sides with 15 touches.

Mutimer is physically pretty impressive but hasn't got much in the way of football smarts at the moment. For comparison Snadden is much more effective in close and actually hits players by hand under duress. Mutimer is a grunt who snaps from stoppages to often and hasn't effectively used his size. His field kicking is unwieldy at times and gets under the ball too much.

Would have been a perfect time to trade Priddis.

Hey we should have also traded Naitanui to GWS when Sheedy offerred all their draft picks.

Then we xould have then had Trealor, Adams and some other top line players.

So is this how 20 20 hindsight and good list management works?

You did ask the question about where we should have gotten picks from. You can't ask that question and have it answered any way other than with hindsight

The point Im making isnt about hindsight its about silly suggestions that trading out your best players is a smart tactic.

Because it isnt.

How many clubs trade out one of their top 5 talent unless they are forced to by the player?

ER, so you think Snadden will make it then?

We've probably got the most money to spend that we ever have/will have. Ours was one of the only clubs that didn't have automatic increases tied into the player contracts and the salary cap, so when the salary cap went up it didn't get divided up amongst the players already on the list. That combined with the retirements and the drop off of players like Mackenzie should mean we've got a heap of money to throw around.
Butler was only on 250k a year plus the 1.25M p.a for the media gig

It goes to show that we are prepared to trade players against their will - sinkers was initially against going before stinkney waved some coin at him.
Club were up fron tiwh Sinclair - they weren't going to pay as much or offer as long a contract as Sydney for a ruck 3.
