No way a team can afford to give 12% of the salary cap to 1 player. Quarter Backs in the NFL get that stuff anf they are central to a team. I doubt GAJ in his prime would be worth 12%. Maybe GOD himself in his prime...

Supposedly Fyfe, Buddy, Cameron, Boyd and Ablett were all on $1m plus in 2016 which would have been 10% of their teams salary caps. Supposedly Darling is on $600k ish and Mackenzie on $500k, would we have missed them this season if we had a $1m midfielder in the team in their place?

Hard to criticise the Mackenzie contract as when he signed it he was pretty much the best key defender in the comp.

I did notice that when McGovern ran off at the interchange gate the other day Hurn was coming on and tried to tap hands with him and McGovern blanked him, he's as good as gone.

Assuming we keep him, that's already a decent chunk from the rumored war chest we have.

Elliott Yeo is also out if contract next year. He will also cost some decent $$$.
And Shuey I'm guessing would have sign for decent coin.
Think people might be getting ahead of themselves with how much money we'll actually have to throw at players.

That's actually a pretty serious list of players.
Hopefully they sign some up over summer to end any speculation before it begins.

No wonder West Coast pulled out of the race for McGovern jnr at $ 750k that is big money , Shuey just signed on @ $800k as a comparison .
McGovern had a tendon hamstring surgery this season and missed ten weeks because of it , Mitch is moving real well and has good pace for his size but still that is big money .

I'll go one step further and make a big statement.

When it's all said and done, Waterman will end up being considered the better player out of the two.
I REALLY like the look of what I've seen with him...Not only skilled but looks to be a very smart footballer.

That he would want to go just says to me we have some real problems in our club, why would Mitch not want to come to us where his brother plays? Has to be much more to it than the so called a Priddis treatment. Why do players not want to play for us?
