Anyone see any potential in wa ruckemn Cameron leorsch at the suns. I know he's mates with Barrass and Darcy Cameron. Potentially could develop him into a decent back up ruck I guess.

If we resign Emac for two years then maybe we could look at Schofield to the Cats for a third rounder?

He can come in and cover them after Mackie and Lonergan's retirement. He's also a Geelong boy and only 28 so he should serve them for 2-3 years playing Mackie's role.

A 3rd is all we would get as the Cats are chasing picks so they can land one of Deven Smith or Hopper.

I'd be enquiring if our 2nd could land Menegola as they need picks to trade.

Blicavs is another I would enquire about. Would be a very handy big winger / 2nd ruck option and been in and out of the side since the 3rd man up rule came in.

Schofield plus our first say 11 or 12 to the Cats for Menegola plus Blicavs plus Geelongs 2nd pick 34. May need something else to even that up but it depends on how desperate the Cats are to clear cap space and get picks to trade. Cats 3rd instead of 2nd or we throw in our 3rd.

Blicavs has quickly become a fringe player at the Cats but adds something quite different to our midfield mix.

We only do this if say Gaff looks for a trade and we get back into the first round.

I don't see how our second wouldn't be enough for menegola. Still pissed the club didnt draft him.

It seems we are gonna hit the draft hard this year. I think at least 5 picks in the ND. We all froth over our first pick but we need to nail our second and third rounders too.

At the moment we have picks 11 28 46 65. Dropping down a few spots after academy & FS bids, compensation picks etc most likely around 13 32 52 70. First two rounds 13 & 32 are good picks where we will take the best available. 52 can be used for a need & 70 is just throwing darts before the rookie draft. This year the first round seems pretty even from 5-20 then again to 20-40.

Seems we should trade a few fringe players or even role players for picks around 30-40 and or positional needs. Masten & Schofield may still have value. Sheppard, Cripps, Lycett are best 22 that play in easy to replace positions, and those looking to go home Mutimer & Karpany (possibly) could get us late picks.

Delist Lamb so he can go work in a surf shop

Blicavs is one of those awkward players that doesnt have a set position. He's nowhere near good enough to play midfield (did you ever see Cox & Naitanui?), doesnt have the foot skills as a wingman and cant play forward or back

A big no for me

Unless he wins a flag dunno why you would go to north.
Because they can pay him a bunch of cold hard cash? With the offer to Martin they've shown just how much they can afford to spend.

We wont go best available with our first picks we will chase the best mids available. No point drafting a ruck with pick 13 or a tall defender. Bradshaw or Clark.

Yeah but Allir would cost some picks..Rather we stuck with Schofield as backup.
Meh, he's out of favour with the coach, barely played in 2017 and they've still got Rampe, Melikan and Grundy who've got them in the finals.

I reckon we could get him on the cheap, if we were inclined. He's an exciting young player, just needs to reign in some of his flash sometimes. Clearly that training he skipped or drinks or whatever off field act it was has punted him right back down the pecking order.

A decade's worth of second round picks who did not play for us on the weekend:

2007 - Notte, Selwood
2008 - Swift
2009 - Weedon, Stevens
2010 - Lycett
2011 - McInnes
2012 - (none used)
2013 - Karpany
2014 - Lamb
2015 - Cole
2016 - Rotham

Yeah but he would cost a 3rd rounder which i would rather use on a Liam ryan or Kell from South Freo

Would be flabbergasted if he doesn't end up at north.Only obstacle will be if North can give GWS the picks they want.I am sure his father who played 62 games for North will be in his ear.The only slim chance West Coast have is that he may have some relatives over here. His father Phil and uncle Lance come from Busselton and played for East Perth.

Wow. That is damning.

Although objectively speaking, Selwood and Lycett can be considered relative successes. I am also a big fan of Cole and Rotham. Too early to write off Karpany.

But good post - we definitely need to improve in this respect.
