Stupid question time. Would people be interested in obtaining the out of favour Chris Mayne from Collingwood in these circumstances:
- LeCras retires
- Hill is delisted
- Collingwood exchange him for a packet of chips
- Collingwood agree to pay a chunk of his hefty salary, since it's their fault after all.

At his best he can help provide the sort of pressure inside 50 that we've struggled to generate all year, and Rioli, Karpany and even the messiah Ryan probably aren't going to have a huge impact in that regard. He can also be dangerous enough to command a decent defender.

I feel like I'm Mayne's old man trying to sell him to Buckley but I think under those circumstances he'd be worth a look.

We still have a final to play Fivey...its not mod Monday yet.

First impressions no but when you think about it might be worth it under those circumstances. Provides some experience and depth to the forward line with guys like Rioli, Ryan (hopefully), Karpany, Partington and Venables all very inexperienced and probably needed to be managed during the year. He plays a bit like Cripps and wouldn't be relied upon to kick bags of goals with our forward line, he would help keep the ball locked in our forward half for sure which has been a big issue this year. If WC were looking at another forward for the list I'd rather take Mayne for nothing than pay overs for someone like Matera and use all our draft currency on the midfield

Just finished readying the last 5 pages. I need to let everyone know that I can 100% guarantee Masto will not be traded. This isn't due to inside knowledge this is due to our track record. Search your inner feelings. You all know it to be true.

He has been treated ridiculously by Buckley but that is because he shouldn't have been offered a contract like that but IMO he is cooked mentally if not before hand he certainly is now after being scapegoated by Buckley.
Just give him a set shot 25 out directly in front and say if you nail this goal you can have another 4 year contract at 500,000. Guarantee miss.
The rest of his game is headless chook stuff.

Only way it happens is if he sees the writing on the wall and asks for a trade, like Rosa did.

We don't generally shop players.

Will be stunned if we delist Wellingham.

Well if he doesn't accept a one year low base deal and insists on a two year contract as has been reported then I can see us delisting him.

He now plays as if he is just going through the motions and lack the intent and desire that he once had.

It looks to me like Footy is just a job for him now.

This is a real possibility and IMO it would be a good thing for both parties.

I was thinking about this the other day and there's only one scenario in which I'd be willing to take him. It depends how untenable Mayne's position is at Collingwood (very).

Basically Collingwood would have to give us their second round draft pick. In exchange, we take on Mayne at $250-300k. I am assuming a few things there, mainly that Collingwood still have their 2nd round pick, and that it would legal (the 'consideration' for Collingwood would be the salary cap relief - that part I suspect may be a no-no).

Pretty damn unlikely but that's the only scenario in which I would want him. Collingwood are going to have to get rid of him somehow, and from Mayne's POV you'd think as long as he gets the value of his contract he'd be more than happy to leave now.

This isn't that crazy.

It was reported that Adelaide and West Coast are the two teams that wrote in the fewest clauses giving players an automatic pay increase with the cap spike, so we should have cap room. The trouble is we might not have a target or strike out on the target(s) we do have, in which case, turning our cap space into a decent pick would be a good way to fly.

Fine. I hereby gift to Dark sharks all property I own in Wembley.
Which consists of a bar stool and half a middy of Penfolds Invalid No.1 Port at the public bar at the Wembley Hotel....

I disagree strongly with this assessment of Wellers. His attack on the footy has been manic, particularly at the start of the season.

His disposal is what has really dropped off in my opinion. He made a lot of good play to win the ball and then gave the ball straight back which is frustrating to watch.

The whole side has dropped the standard of skill execution since 2015 and is the main reason we look like an also ran currently.

Isn't That exactly what the Pies recruited him for ?
