They traded a contracted caddy last year for cheap because of salary reasons

Different league of quality there. In any case it's not a strong enough basis to suggest Geelong would offer us one of the better players on their list for pick 30 and a player who would probably fetch us pick 50 on the open market.

Tom lamb is just about to sign a 1 year extension
I hope you're right. Seen him a couple of times at hillarys marina the last couple of weeks. He's a pretty big unit and still might come good

peekaye are you able to confirm this information?

could be more too it . If we paid schofield salary for next year it would increase his value .
It's a way we can use our salary cap which will be not used

Yeah I was adamant. I think the coaches were happy with his development and progression and convinced him he will get more opportunities

If we're looking at a big list turnover it could just be a case of the club being realistic that Lamb represents more value on our list than pick #96 via the draft.

Just as an opposition supporter input Duncan won't go he has just recently signed until 2020 and more importantly (unlike in the case of a single caddy) his partner is the daughter of a former geelong player (geoff miles) and they just had their first child a few weeks ago and she is very reliant on the family support. He wouldn't go for that reason even if we wanted him to (which we don't). You may be correct about geelong wanting to move cap out (although we moved a lot of cap out last year and have two key retirements this year) but it will likely be motlop and menzel going to free that up.

As for Schofield i doubt he wants to leave you guys anyway, he had the chance last year to go when he was a free agent and he re-signed, if he didn't go home then i doubt he wants to now.

This trade talk stems from a rumour on perth radio about him wanting to come back to Perth.
Didn't think he would leave just spit balling what he was we worth and what Geelong need .

Schofield signed before the emergence of barrass and now sits 4th in line for the key back position behind mcgovern barrass and mackenzie
He is an Afl quality player and the best kick out of the 4 .
He may want to leave for opportunity .

With Priddis mitchell butler retiring , mackenzie lecras finishing big 500k+ contracts and being one of two clubs not including the new player pay increase in our existing contracts we have salary room to rival norf .
Looking for established mids and have cash , brand new stadium and state of the art new training facility at end of 2018.

Think you'll find that Geoff Miles played more games for the Eagles than he did for Geelong. Not that it has any bearing on the rumoured trade

I am aware of that. My point was more that while demi has a fair few relatives close by and her brother keeps playing for hawthorn an she keeps her networks local, she won't be letting mitch move anytime soon.

We will need to replace 5 main list spots maybe more if we are thinking about trading Masten or Schofield for picks. There are possible retirements in Wellingham & Lecras too. I would delist all but 2 rookies which means an influx of around 10 players. We can't really afford to axe Lamb who has actally shown a bit. Play him as a third tall in attack. Just needs to get fitter maybe slim down as he won't really be a KPP

Was just pointing out that it doesn't really matter who he played for. Can certainly understand why they wouldn't want to move away from family though

So who will we draft :)

I'll defer to those who follow the U/18s as far as who to chase with our first pick, but i'd love to see us get Tim Kelly with a second rounder and Jarrod Garlett with a third rounder. We're a bit light on in that early twenties age bracket - these 2 could redress that, as well as adding much needed speed.

I suspect we'll draft a young ruckman too.

No, but what does have bearing is that Miles settled in Geelong post-career (think he was president of one of the local clubs).

Fasolo and pick 36 for Darling

Whatever issues Lamb has that are holding him back, fitness isn't one of them. Would be in the top 5 aerobically fittest players at the club

Stoked if Lamb stays in the herd.

Hire someone to coach him individually. Make it work somehow.
