I won't watch a single press conference if gaff leaves. He's the only player I'm interested in watching in pressers.

Cant see Hurnplaying till he is 34-35 for that to happen.

I think he can. His body will hold up, it's his form that may not. Having said that, he had a ripping year. Only just turned 30. Would only need to play until 33 years old. Body should make that. He hasn't had any wear or tear.

So typical we have someone of value and we do nothing and he will go next year for nothing
He's an RFA pretty sure sure and we have the right to match. I doubt gaff will leave to be honest, this time last year he wanted a longer contract but due to on going CBA discussions at the time the club we settled on two.

Gaff will be an RFA. We refuse to trade him this year if no one comes with an appropriate offer. If he is rubbish, as many BF pundits indicate, how high is someone going to go on him? Next year we can match offers and double down on the Mitch Brown...ing of his ass.

Surely our worst case scenario is an end of first round compo next year with the coin he will end up on? Unders but if he plays like he did for most of this year...maybe not.

i tend to agree, i think the cost of your club losing Gaff will far outweight what you can get for him. its just too big of a loss to cover in your midfield

having said that i think the issue next year if he does decide to leave will be the compo bands, the AFL has already tightened them since the frawley crap that happened. they are heavily linked to the $$$ offer over the life of the contract and where that sits across all of the AFL contracts i.e. the top 2% get band 1 etc.

given the CBA just went up a shitload and some big contracts are currently being signed it could be that the best compensation you could receive would be band 2, that is the end of the first round. if you do force a trade, it would depend on how much interest he receives. a club could play hardball here and only release the one draft pick (remember he would be a year older and form/injury would dictate how much you get for him). outside types tend to attract less at the trade table (see Brad Hill). also the club he goes to could be further up the ladder than the offers you are currently receiving for him

Interesting that he's gotten limited game time at Port, their midfield isn't that good. Hell i thought dads army got the better of them the last time we played.

So Rockliff nominated Port. Not sure they really needed another big-bodied midfielder with questionable skills. Throw in Watts and they've got all the makings for getting knocked out in the first week of finals again

Guessing that means less opportunities for Ah Chee, less ability to claim he's a required player.

They got a a good core group of inside mids in Boak, wines,Ebert, Gray and spp. Imo that side on paper should be killing it but they seem to be underachieved as a unit.

I wasn't following footy much when Ebert got traded, but the deal was pretty rough. A 21 year-old first round pick, ex U-18s captain, who has played 76 games (33 goals) over 4 years is still a first round pick. There is no way we then include a third round downgrade on top of a mid second round - that's taking the piss. We got screwed so I can understand the fury about that decision.

Ah Chee for Pick 67, get it done.

This^

All day, everyday, and every ****ing day of the week, time to hit Koshy and his cronnies at the Geriatric Crossing!!!:thumbsu:

Listening to SEN -Gossage says we're the most likely club to trade for Gaff is you guys decide to play etc.

What is an appropriate offer do you think? Watched Gaff as a junior at Oakleigh and always thought he was extremely good talent.
Gossage is 1 brain cell off full *******, nothing to see here my friend. Move along.

They are going to claim he is a required player in order to get the best deal they can for him, otherwise they are looking at getting nothing for him.
I'm sure they will ask for a 2nd round pick but in reality a 3rd or 4th is the correct price for him.
