That you Chris? That's not exactly saying much. Also, Mastens best years >>>> anything hartung has done
Surely he can't be that good if the dockers let him go, not like they're flush with decent key tallsSurely we look at Sam Collins. He's fairly and still room for development left and i think he's the type that can take the oppositions best forward and let barrass and gov do their work in the air. Surely pick him up as DFA and let schoey go.

dockers fans have no idea why they let go of him. From what i have seen i liked so far. More of an old school stopper type. That said he's still 23 and i think we can develop his offensive game a bit. We tend to develop KPD's pretty well and iwth gov, barrass and emac he might learn a bit more off them.Surely he can't be that good if the dockers let him go, not like they're flush with decent key talls
I think he’s good myself. Looked good when given opportunity in his first stint at AFL level.Surely he can't be that good if the dockers let him go, not like they're flush with decent key talls

Has to be a reason for it, something definitely wrong if he's half decent and they still dumped him. Not like he's 30 or anything so age not a reason and he's actually about the age where most key position players start to show something.I think he’s good myself. Something amiss there for mine.
Why? Don't want or need him. No point trying to get him when he's not what we're after just to be 'active'.
could it be that they have logue, pearce, hamling, hughes and ryan as talls that are all young and flexible enough to play a few roles. Yes i understand a few of those guys mentioned aren't genuine KPD's but with the modern trend of smaller forward lines, they match up better on the third talls. We don't need another small forward who doesn't pressure. Freo can have him. If his last name wasn't Matera wouldn't be giving two craps about him.

Could Freo even be after naughton?
Would Masten be worth more than pick 40? Think i'd rather take my chances in the draft. Doesn'matter how many games he's played if he offers nothing.I don't know what Fremantle will end up giving up to get him. But given they won't trade their first rounder and they don't have a second rounder, lets say it ends up being pick 40 or something like that. You don't think a 100 game player like Matera is worth more than pick 40 in a weak draft?
If you think that then have a look through the history of the draft and how many players drafted around pick 40 end up getting to 100 games.
gary lyon if hes not the biggest flog in the footy media industry he'd get in the grand finalid love to get watts just to spite gary lyon
Eaglespur just dropped the bar on his throat mid bench press after hearing that ahaha. So trading starts in earnest tomorrow and I am expecting a quiet start. Why? The clubs have speed dating sessions when the list teams meet every club;s team and you get a chance to say who you are interested in and who might be available from your club. That should take up most of the day and it will not be until after then that detailed discussions and negotiations heat up. I suspect that many of these discussions have already commenced but now they can be formal about the trades agreed.
One problem I see is Dodoro. Essendon are singularly the most frustrating club to trade with and will keep a number of deals up in the air. Reality is that Stringer in for Francis out is not far off. Melbourne have Watts out and Lever in which will need them to give up something. Adelaide have possibly Francis in plus something extra for the departure of Lever. So there is enough of value that could easily bring about some sensible trading. Not happening - just stating the bleeding obvious. All the names can be seen as someone who is or was worthy of a first round with Lever clearly holding the greatest currency (IMO). Adelaide are a proud club and want to make a statement with Lever but are probably still happy to go poaching for Gibbs! These are the deals that will determine the pace and cleanliness of the trade period. Get Adrian done and we start the fun.
Meanwhile, we are trying to find a home for McInnes, Lamb, Hill and Masten with Wellingham having to stay patient or go fishing with another club. We have had the names of Ah Chee, Fassolo, Cripps and Mountford plus any WA boy thrown up (some resembling vomit throw up and some with possible grounds). Surprised that Rich has not been linked with us - we are really short of half back flankers!
Last year the team did very well in getting Vardy for 72 and Mitchell for 88. Credit when due.
I want us courting Gold Coast because they have lovely second round picks and there are some great options in the second round. My dream is for Masten and our fourth round for one of the Suns early 20 picks. Dreaming but it's OK to dream. What about Schofield? What about Sheppard to the Suns for a decent return?
So we have salary cap space. That is an asset so we will need to use it wisely. Midfield Midfield and a small forward please.
What about a request that would rock the boat. Gaff - I can see St Kilda having another go at it and their 7 and 8 picks have real currency. What other gems are out of bounds? Barrass has been untouchable so I will use this as an example? What about Patrick Cripps for Barrass and our 2nd or 3rd? Would our team look better with Mackenzie down back instead of Barrass with Patrick Cripps in the centre?
Meanwhile - it will need to be something special for us to give up next year's picks. Why? In 2018 we could be anywhere from finals to 15th depending on who you talk to and next year is an extremely strong draft. The NN returning factor will mean that clubs will find it hard to put a value on what we might be trading.
This year is a midfielders draft and despite what some are saying, I think it is reasonably decent in strength and there are quality picks that match our needs in the first 2 rounds. Plus there are a number of WAFL players like Banfield, Kelly and Ryan that could be of interest.
We do not need to protect our early picks for a precious tall - the talls we need are probably later so no drama.
He is solid , very solid at WAFL level and really okay at AFL level ...don't know what Freo were thinking maybe I haven't seen enough of Collins .
