Lycett has value, both to keep and to trade. I would also think Jackson Nelson would have some currency in Victoria. I'm a little surprised his name hasn't come up here more often as trade bait.

Lycett has value but I doubt we would take the risk with Nic Nat coming back and Vardy's history. What do you think Nelson would get? Maybe a late second rounder?

Maybe that high if a club was short of that type of defender/ defensive midfielder. But pick 40ish seems more likely for a player who's in and out of the side.

I was thinking more that he'd be a good piece of a deal to get a player here from a Victorian club. For instance, when Fasolo was potentially in the mix, you couldn't really sell Masten as part of a trade. Nelson, maybe...

Maybe, just don't see him having that much value around the league though. A by-product of not developing him enough and kind of shunting him on to a half back flank.

Due to our current list situation I've determined that Brady's strategy is as follows*..

We have limited years to get a premiership while our A graders are still around. We could trade them out and go the full rebuild but that could ruin the club.

We also struggle to attract A grade free agents etc due to our location. So we basically can trade in a player or two where possible and then hit the draft. how do we improve our draft position? We can't get rid of our C graders for even 4th rounders as it would seem that no other clubs really want them

Also another issue I can foresee with drafting players is that it takes a number of years to develop them, making our premiership window even smaller.

Solution?

I believe the club may trade away some 2018 draft picks for 2017 picks. For example we might give away our first and second rounders next year for a number of gold coasts 2017 picks.

Why should we do that?

The 2018 draft might be rated as stronger but if we can identify players and nail this draft we will get an extra year of development into a number of players potentially widening our premiership window. It's a risk but we have to try something imo

Why would an opposition club do it?

2018 is predicted to be a stronger draft and it appears as though clubs could possibly pay overs for these picks. Another factor is that many seem to think we will slide next year so it would appear that clubs might be prepared to bet against us. Furthermore a club like Gold Coast might have more picks this year than they actually want to use (multiple second and third rounders) and so might only value first and early second rounders highly.

I therefore predict that on the last day of the trade period we will trade out our future first and second for A number of picks in this years draft. It's pretty much the only way I see Brady improving our draft position

*actually a complete guess but who knows..

Possibly because he's one of our only semi talented youngsters and we desperately want to keep him

Looked on Ports board about Ah Chee .
All positive eg.
"And it's not even like he was bad at AFL level this year either. 15.8 disposals and 1.4 goals a game. Better goal average and only two disposals per game behind Sam Gray. Well ahead on both goals and possessions than Impey, Neade, Matt White and Aidyn Johnson, all of whom played more games than him. An extra 6 disposals and 1 goal per game over Aidyn Johnson who had the same amount of goals as him.

His treatment baffles me. We've given Jake Neade more than double Ah Chee's career games. We've given Jarman Impey nearly triple Ah Chee's career games. If those two were held to the same standard as Ah Chee is, theywould've both been delisted two years ago."

Don't trade nelson he has a lot of campaigner in him which we lack in our goodie two shoes team
Nelson had a good start to the year and the broken hand seemed to hold him back. I would be wanting to back him in and as many of said, one of the few with some campaigner spirit which our side is so so lacking. He just needs a couple of mates to join him.

He has some genuine speed and showed signs during the pre-season of being given inside midfield work (he thrived at a couple of training drills based on extraction) and he needs a sustained run. Emphasis over the summer - get that tank up and keep your feet.

And there's the issue. Nelson appears to be semi-talented, as do many of our young reserves. I'm not sure that they have it in them to get where we want them to. In Nelson's case, I don't think he's in our best back 7. As for the midfield, I still wouldn't have him ahead of Hutchings.

No doubt the club will give him more opportunities, but that would be more out of promise than performance. I would not consider him untouchable in the quest to regenerate our midfield and forward line through trade or draft.

Sheppard is the best half back we have ever had

This is all something we should have thought of this season.

The monkeys running this club are so fn conservative.

Geelong, hawks and sydney are the blueprint
