KP backs is one area we have covered. Especially intercept marking tall backs.

Gov is high value but not indispensable, he's also carried a dodgy shoulder for several years in a row.

Playing this soft zone defense hasnt worked IMO and needs to change. Will Gov still play as well if not playing so loose in defence?

The midfield engine room wins games of football and we currenly have a four cylinder diesel.

Like I said the club is simply too conservative to make hard calls and take a risk or two to improve.

Um...doesn't Gov lead the league in winning 1 on 1 contests?

Personally, I don't see it as conservative not to want to trade Gov, who is close to our best player, for two very speculative picks in the mid to late teens. I see it as sensible. I can see the argument more with a player like Gaff, due to his limitations. Again, that would only happen if he wanted out as well as there are negatives for a team pushing players out the door. But at least with Gaff, being from Victoria, it could be asked if he wanted to go home or inquired if he was contemplating it. For Gov, not only would we lose one of our only A grade players, it could destroy team harmony and relations with him. Is that because the AFL isn't as "professional" as other sports yet? Maybe. But it is still reality.

As for Gov's dodgy shoulder, it has not stopped him playing any meaningful number of games and wasn't Gov the best one on one defender this year in terms of contests won and lost?

Are we really talking about trading THE GOV!?!? What the fuvk. Unless we are getting 2 footlongs it's a no deal
How does recruiting players with huge schlongs get us closer to a premiership? (I'm trying not to think of the initial player interviews)

If the CBA increase was written in Danger's contract, he'll still be on less than 900k next season.

Respectfully, Gov is not worth $1m/season in my opinion

Gov is irreplaceable. Not only has he stopped opposition goals at crucial points in game too many times to count, he's also an elite one on one defender and possible future captain.

What Gov does for us is worth its weight in gold. I'd rather keep our superstars then trade them for speculative picks (which aren't even top 5).

C'mon guys, it was only a matter of times before 'The King of Shit Trade Ideas Obeanie1' decided he wants to trade Gov

Firstly trading Gov was not my idea or suggestion I am simply commenting on what others have proposed.

Secondly play the ball not the man or @$&#@ off.

Or go and join the circle jerk mob who think trading dud fringe players will land us the quality mids we need.

My initial post stated if Gov wanted out Id jump at two firsts and a second round upgrade.

IF GOV WANTED OUT.

I wouldnt see it as the end of the world but an opportunity to fix the weakest part of the list.

I also think losing one player we have cover for to land two or three quality players in the area we are weak as p!ss in iisnt a crazy idea.

I also said the club wouldnt do it anyway and forcing a player out I will say isnt good people or list management.

But you run along and keep posting nothing statements.

I skipped from page 477 to 481 to escape this Gov trade chat because it’s ridiculous but here you all are. Him and Kennedy are the only two reasons we finished anywhere near the 8 this year. Not a trade option.

Sticking your head in the sand does nothing when clubs come knocking with a $1M/Season offer next year.

P.S. There's a reason that Richmond won the flag this year, before Martin's godfather contract sets in.
See: Seattle Seahawks with Russell Wilson's rookie contract, Tom Brady taking huge unders from the Patriots.

If Gov is happy with 750k-800k, we'd be fools not to do it. But we don't want to be on the wrong side of a bidding war.

So lets all calm down about Gov.

Some Crows fan came on the board and asked what we would want for Gov.

I replies - Sloan.

Poster came back asking if 2 first rounders and a second do it.

And that's when the ideas ran wild.

Pure speculation and no substance.

Very good points and they apply to both Gov and Gaff. Both restricted FA next year and the club is being manoeuvredinto a corner by not signing them up before the end of the trade period this year.

Say Freo or the Crows offer Gov $1m next year we either are forced to match it or lose him and get one first rounder back.

You would want to be very confident vorh Gaff and Gov are committed long term. But if they are why haven't they recommited?
