I just don't think that's good practice in the AFL.

See: Sydney and Franklin, Gold Coast and Ablett, West Coast and Nic Nat, Collingwood and Pendlebury, Fremantle and Fyfe. GWS and Cameron.
All between 8% and 10% of their club's salary cap.
For fairness' sake, we'll include Bulldogs and Boyd.

Semi bold prediction: Richmond WILL NOT win another flag with Dustin Martin's new contract, Bulldogs WILL NOT win another flag with Tom Boyd's current contract.

Naitanui is only on 800ish, and I'm sure just about every team in the competition has players either above that or very close to that.

As of next year, 1 mil will be roughly 8% of the cap. I think for one of your best 2 or 3 players you can afford that if it's required to keep him, especially in our situation when we have more than any club to spend. He's the glue that holds our backline together and arguably the best defender in the comp going forward.

Don't you know the majority of the trades are done in the last couple of days. At the moment they are all just counter-offering, like you do in real estate!

Anyone got a day by day breakdown of when the trades are usually done?
Everyone's bitching about how slow it is,I'm pretty sure its always like this

Last year McCarthy was done on day 2.

In 2015 Dangerfield and Redden were done on day 1, Henderson, Bennell and Jetta-Sinclair were done on day 3.

2014: Nothing done until day 4

2013: Hampson done on day 1.

2012: Nothing done in the first week, after an ill-fated decision to extend trade week for basically the whole month of October.

Before that trade week was only a week, so it was a bit more compressed.

So this is the second time in the past five years that we've had no trades for the first three days.

No. They have a young Mumford like ruckman developing on their list. They will keep the same Ruck combination they used after Mumford was injured. Rory Lobb and Patton helping out as the 2nd ruck.They wont trade one in. This was from their list manager. Not my words.
