What? You think the club would sign a player to meet the floor? Why wouldn't they just pay a player they want around for a few years more this coming year and less the years after i.e. front ending i.e. moving cap space to another year i.e. being smart.

If they sign welllllllllinghammmmmm it will be because they think he has value. Not to meet the floor.

Surely if they thought he had value they would have already signed him to a contract? It's obvious they're just going to wait and see if they can fill his list spot and if not sign him up for one year to make up the numbers, then delist him next year. It mitigates the risk of taking someone they don't particularly want with pick 88 or whatever and having to sign him to two years and gives them an easy decision on who to dump next year. Not the way I'd go but it's probably the way the team is thinking.

Actually something sound and logical said in trade week.

“I find the clubs who do the best in trade period don’t actually talk about it, they just do it. If something happens then it’s reported but if we are talking a lot then it’s not that helpful to your cause at times."

“I know how the AFL wants this to work. We want to dominate the media, so you’re going to dominate the media via trade week. We have trade radio and trade month and all this sort of stuff.

“The AFL might have other motivation as they want to the biggest and the best and to be honest I think it’s more damaging when it goes for so long and nothing happens that people tune out.”

Neil Blame.

Couldn't agree more. Lots of people worried about "perception" of activity. Sam Mitchell last year, inquiring about Charlie Cameron in March this year, Redden before that. WC are active.

Does anyone want Rockliff, Motlop AND Watts at the club, or would it just mean that WC "are doing something"? I'd say recruiting Rockliff had the most support on this thread (and last years) but that was probably 50/50.

How are North and Freo perceived RE: their trade target success?

Also, Port GAGF, take our 4th and give us Ah Chee first thing Monday, I want to see him in blue & gold. Thanks

State Draft Combine on tomorrow

Scott Jones testing after serious leg injury has postponed his chances of being drafted , Kevin Sheehan also saying there is late interest for Claremont pair Matt Guelfi and Bailey Banfield both considered unlucky to miss being drafted last year .

Liam Ryan is testing again "Some clubs are coming specifically to look at him"

If the Ah CHee deal falls though there are players we can take who could easily be as big a chance of success at AFL level especially with Schloithe , Guelfi and Banfield all cheaper options .

Off-Broadway but Eagles and Port Adelaide haggling over value of Brendon Ah Chee. Port say he's worth 3rd rd pick, West Coast say 4th rd.
Port have killed the pig with 2 free draftees of quality. They couldnt care less about a 4th round pick. Probably couldnt care less about our 3 rd which will be there 4 th unless they want to give 2 third round picks for Watts. In which case they are pissed at us for not giving them Watts . They will let Archee go through to the draft on principle alone.

That makes me happy.

a

All this anxiety over a SANFL player
It's more the fact that Port are being a bunch of dicks about the trade, I mean the guy couldn't get a game for 6 years and now they've brought in even more players who play in his position yet he's a required player who's worth a 3rd round pick? What a load of shit.

Port couldn't care less about a 4th round pick, won't use it. If we want Ah Chee for sure we will need to cough up the 3rd round pick. Those w*****s won't do us any favours. No point standing on principle. Do we want Ah Chee or not? I would do it. Puts us in the box seat for Callum if nothing else. Better chance of making the grade than most of our other options at this pick. We could probably pick up Banfield with our 4th round pick, maybe not Ryan. Depends who we want the most. But a 4th round pick holds no value for Port. Makes us look weak, who cares. Take a business like attitude.

He's basically a throw away player for Port though the way they've used him, at this point they probably can't even afford to pay him.

Yes, but they will force him into the draft and some team like GC will pick him up and we lose. Port aren't losing anything and we know what they are like.

Be patient. We are in the box seat as we have another way to get him for free so no need to blink. Time and deadlines are marvellous in negotiations and it would be different if The Sneezer was a must have with multiple buyers.

Oh well, I can't see Ah Chee being the difference between us contending next year or not, I think we'd be able to pick up a mature age WAFL player with our 3rd and not notice the difference between the two.

Id let him go to the draft - hes said he wants wc

If we cave every time we will get bu77fkked every time.

I want him more than anyone but we cant cave all the time

Then he needs to work with us.

I would like to see him move back to Perth this weekend saying he is going home regardless. In other words - do a Cripps
