What if he refuses, or can't that be done?

If no trade is done:
- Port change their mind and delist him so he can come here for free before the draft
- Port keep their contract offer on the table and he agrees to it
- Port decide that they can't offer him a contract any more, but decide not to delist him (I'd say this is most likely). Clubs have this option so uncontracted players can't get to their club of choice without a trade being done (screwing their original club). His only option in this instance is to head to the draft. He can set his contract requirements prior to entering the ND and/or PSD.

Can't see lamb going to the purples but it seems like a pretty fair trade

Also heard that the matera trade will be done on the last day probably the same as the last 2 years freo will swap a future 2 to GC.

Something like freo future 2nd for matera and one of GC second round pick
Why would that really worry Lamb taking into consideration he is originally from Victoria?

If he refuses to accept the contract offer he goes to the draft / pre season draft where we can use whichever pick we want and Port get zilch .

Because he has been offered a contract and not accepted he cannot be taken as a delisted free agent though .

Either way Port are screwing with a fringe players career and desire to get home / better opportunities especially if there offer of money is $250 k or less .

That Motlop pick gets the Ablett deal done I reckon. Another AFL special.

Re Nixons 4 club thing ... possibly something like:

WC get Ah Chee, lose Lamb
Freo get Matera & Lamb, lose pick 40
GC get Young, lose Matera
Port lose Young & Ah Chee get 40

Probably not even and needs more picks thrown around but I reckon thats the gist
Wouldn't trade Lamb for Ah Chee. We can get Ah Chee for 4th or free, I'd rather either of those options ahead of trading Lamb.

Do you've mean to say you have only just found this out:rolleyes:!
The other side to this whole Ah Chee thing is the player himself. If he really is as good as some hope and Port have refused to play him much and refused to trade him out they really have damaged his money earning capacity. He's at the age where most good players are already well into their first really big contract and I don't imagine he's on anywhere near as much as he would be at another club because he's a "required" player according to the campaigners...I mean Port. He's wasted half his career at Port and they're nitpicking over a late draft pick just because they're a pack of w***ers.

Oh well, I can't see Ah Chee being the difference between us contending next year or not, I think we'd be able to pick up a mature age WAFL player with our 3rd and not notice the difference between the two.
Be careful when bagging a player that you don't know much about. Years ago we were offered a young josh Kennedy in a 3-way trade for Shaun Burgoyne, I was insulted and irate, Burgoyne is a genuine star, who the f€£k is Kennedy?. Trade was turned down but I sure as hell know who Kennedy is now.
Port aren't the worst club to deal with in trade talks either. Collingwood & crows are a lot worse. But port won't cave in easily either. We have let good players go before for nothing (nick Stevens) on principle, but not to the club of their choice, if their suitors were unwilling to make a reasonable offer.
Ah chee is a good bloke and doesn't want to do the club over, I note he has stated he is willing to go anywhere to continue his afl career, and I note that a lot of players are now urging port to hold onto him and give him more of a run next season.
Eagles can play tough and hope to get him for nothing but Gold Coast and a few other clubs will take a serious look at him first.

Not sure where I bagged him, just stated that there's not much difference between him and a couple of mature age WAFL players who we could take with our 3rd rounder, which is true.
Of course he's willing to go anywhere to continue his career, you guys have hardly played him at all, only an insane person would want to stay.

Did you listen to his b&f speech where he was told at the start of the season he wouldn't get many games? Clearly he's not a required player but the second hevwants out he suddenly is?

With Rockliff in he is even further down the depth chart. I think everyone knows that staying at Port isn't a realistic option for him.

You're right that he might be open to going elsewhere, and there may be suitors. I'm not sure if Port Adelaide would be willing to force him down that path considering his lack of trade value.

I'm not sure the Josh Kennedy comparison is that relevant.

When he left Hawthorn he was a 21 year old who had just finished his 4th season. He had played 10 games and averaged 19 disposals in the year he left. This included the last 9 games of the year straight, including some really good footy in the last month.

Ah Chee is 23 and has had 6 years on the list. This year he played 5 games, and just one since round 12.

When players are in Ah Chee's position good trade compensation is the exception rather than the rule. West Coast are just seeking the standard transaction for this scenario.

Don’t think anyone has bagged Ah Chee, only your campaigner club.

And let me just clarify your post a little, Port aren’t crap to deal with at trades, they just treat their players shit so the can hold onto their principles, which are to win ever trade???
