Why would Essendon want lecca?
Yeah that's a weird one. They've gotta Fantazia, Tippa and Josh Green, their small forwards are arguably their greatest strength.

Why would Essendon want lecca?
I'm not sure he would. All of Hurn, McGovern, Barrass, and Butler rarely push forward and overlap the mids. JJ pushes up a tonne more than Sheppard, maybe he backs himself to run the other way. Butler's the guy I could see making way, with Jax pushing into the midfield rotations like others have said. He'd have more to do at Westcoast defensively.
Lamb may end up being a great player at AFL level - he just needs to be given an opportunity. Sure he looked like a crab last year but we can all see he's turned a corner in his development. I reckon youre spot on with Petrie, Darling and Lamb as our FWD targets this weekend.Agree with that. We could afford to have Lamb at FF if we had NicNat palming to the likes of Shuey and Venables streaming out of the centre.
Hey - maybe worth a go. Not the NicNat bit but Lamb given a go in the forward line (Drew at FF and Lamb as 3rd tall)
Re: JJ, would love his speed across half back but have some serious concerns about his disposal. Don't want him especially if it takes $800k pa to get him across.
Other players we are into:
Mitch McGovern
Paul Puopolo
Tom Rockliff
Brandon Matera
- I'd be happy with this at the right price, especially if we lose Lecca
Mitch Duncan
- Yes please, prob my favourite target for us so far.
Nathan Wilson
- Went alright against us on the weekend but don't know enough about him...
Other news (had a quick look in this thread and couldn't see a lot of it here:
- Would be a free agent so would get nothing for him
- Too old too slow but is from WA and we've been linked to him forever
On a side note, not too sure who '@AFLtradetalk' is but they were on the money around several trades last year so I've been following them since.- Could be a good replacement for someone we may need to lose to get McGovern etc, we were reportedly interested last year.

I agree, still an interesting point of discussion though.Their strategy seems to be "throw enough shit against the wall and some of it will stick". Basically just name a bucketload of WA players and say we're into them.
For example Duncan signed a three-year deal in February, in April they tweeted that we're chasing him. That'd seem to be an exercise in futility.
Yeah we are not getting Duncan. Rockliff would be silly to come here after Redden has busted like he has.Their strategy seems to be "throw enough shit against the wall and some of it will stick". Basically just name a bucketload of WA players and say we're into them.

That would be a very good result imo.
Trade Mackenzie or schofield Whichever nets us more for a 2nd/3rd rounder and we would be adding.
A readymade AFL level crumber
A good quality AFL forward with upside who could cover for JK in a few years time until we find a true FF
A first rounder (pray we nail it)
A fourth rounder
Late pick for our Uneeded and aging KPD depth.
Mckenzie. Guy is on 800k a year. That's a chunk of change to be freed up. Schoey would be on half that, maybe less.
Mackenzie is a free agent, there is no need for another club to trade for him. Will not be on the 600k he is on this year with a new contract. Letting him walk to another club will probably result in fairly limited return.Mckenzie. Guy is on 800k a year. That's a chunk of change to be freed up. Schoey would be on half that, maybe less.
Speaking of which, Hagdorn has mentioned 2 days straight that JD is on 800k and is the 3rd highest paid Eagle. I can only presume Naitanui and Kennedy are the higher two.Yeah, no he's not. That'd make him the second highest paid player at the club and one of the top dozen or so in the league.

Wonder if it is cap salary and endorsements that Hagdorn is quoting. Which would still make him wrong because the club's not paying the endorsement money.Long story short, Hagdorn is just making it up.
Yep jobs for the boys....Surely someone with some experience in midfield/stoppage structures could extract more performance from our group though? We hamstring ourselves with lack of backroom expertise.

So looking at draft and trade, I thought I would put together what our probable best 22 is for players 25 years old or younger.
That will give you an indication as to where we will be in 3 - 5 years time (assuming all stay etc).
As well as the usual midfielder requirement, I see the need for a KPF, KPD, Ruckman.
Good news - these next 2 years will offer us plenty of choice.
Lucky our team has been able to nail their picks so well of late.
