Just sharing what I heard from the Champion Data person about the 2018 draft. It is supposedly a superdraft so what does that mean? I think this helps give some clarity. I think the numbers I am using are

The top 3 in 2016 draft were getting ranking points around 130 before the draft.

The top 5 in 2017 this year's draft are getting ranking points around 110 to 130 before the draft.

The top 10 in next year's draft were getting ranking points of around 130 to 150 before the draft.

In addition, Champion Data usually put together the top 25 in ranking points and as they look at 2018, they are struggling to get 35 into 25. Their comments - some really special talents in next year's draft

Hopefully that provides some clarity or insights behind why the draft is seen as very good.

Is there any chance worpel is around at our second? I feel like we could do with another big body at the contest.

Very good chance .

Weller, Wilson, ablett go thier desired clubs and gws get 19?
I think 19 is unders for Weller.
I expect the AFL may have done a deal with the Suns on the upgrades Cats compo of 19 telling them to give it for Ablett and don't muck it around.

If I was in Freo's position, I would want 24 and 26 and for Weller - with Freo giving over 24 for Wilson. Freo then 43 to Suns for Matera which is about par. Freo keep next year's picks in hand, go to the draft with 5 for Brayshaw or Cerra and then 26 for Allen or Taylor.

Weller is going either this trade period or next ..has agreed to move to GC and Clayton and co saying they will do whatever they can to get him there .

Fremantle now saying No to Wellers request ....Fremantle could have cleaned up there with GC picks .

Wilson is worth every cent Weller is.

And we wouldn't have taken him considering we already had two very good young rucks on the list. Wellingham was the right move at the time, he hasn't worked out because of a combination of his own lack of interest and our poor use of him. We brought him in as an inside out midfielder, he gets injured and when he returns we play him a couple of games on the wing, decide it's not working out and throw him on a half back flank.

Just having a quick look at the numbers (obviously don't tell the whole story but...) the top 10 of 2012 Draft have an average of 78.4 games between them, Wellingham has played 79 Games, all draft picks after 10 (excluding rookie promotions) have an average of 33.5 Games. The only players to have played more games have been Grundy on 82, Viney (F/S) 88 and Hunter (F/S) 84. Up until this point, he probably was the best addition we could have taken...

So? I live in Melbourne my dad lives in WA . I guess that means we aren't related

Both were born and went up the ranks on opposites sides of the country. While it's not a certainty, I'd say it's safe to assume they aren't related.

Everyone is asking for a trade except Marsden.

Surely you can't be happy sitting in the WAFL for 2 more years, tattooed numpty.
I guess we're in a hard position he doesnt want to leave you hear in the media but he'll b playing at EP most of the time although i think it was vozzo said they're hoping he can get back to his best form

Its what management always says about a contracted player that's on the fringe. Doesn't mean he will get back to form or play many games next year

Am i the only one who thinks pick 19 for Ablett is too much?

Sheesh Gold Coast win out of that trade IMO, he's 34 next year. That pick 19 could potentially play for another 10 years.

Absolutely too much for Ablett, who will likely only play 1 more year. Comparing pick 88 for Mitchell and 1 year of playing (different circumstances though) kinda puts in perspective how out of balance pick 19 is

Its almost like the afl had an outcome in mind

Its going to be a record last day of trade with the lack of activity happening and the amount of players still looking to move.

Best we can hope for is improved form so we can actually trade him for a 3rd next season.
