whats the go with Jamie Graham , he was at east Perth without success and then forward line coach at west coast, comments on BF earlier suggest he wasnt regarded very highly
Who knows? People blame him for the bad performances of our forwardline this season but is it him that caused LeCras to be a pathetic tackler and one-way runner, Cripps to be rushed back early and have the fumbles all year, Darling's baby to be born 5 weeks premature, Priddis to be played as a half forward or Kennedy to be injured for a quarter of the season?

Our forward line was dysfunctional at times this season but I query how much of this was Graham's doing or just due to circumstance. Next year will be much more telling with fully fit Venables, Rioli and Waterman available, players who are actually forwards playing in their preferred positions. Add that to a fit Cripps and LeCras maybe returning to his early season form and players who can actually kick I50 delivering the ball rather than Priddis being the last to deliver the ball into the arc and I think they should put up a better showing.

I'm happy for Lecras to play home games only, and if in good form away games against top 8 teams, otherwise give him rest. His performance the last few years has been directly related to how fresh he is. Travel kills him.

Wellers played an important role in our team that went to a GF. He's been good for us compared to what we could have had in the draft. No complaints from me.

People forget how good Shepingham was in that final series. He was also pretty good last year...

I would keep wellingham even as depth for the backline or if they actually want to play him as a mid.

He started this year reasonably well. Ideally he'd play back and provide pace and run so Yeo can move into the midfield.

So who does LeCras job share with? Surely dropping either Venables or Rioli every second week is hardly going to be conducive to gaining form and confidence! I would rather back in Venables or Rioli and give them a consistent run at it and then only bring in LeCras if you need to freshen up the youngsters.

Wellingham still has one of the best attacks on the footy on our list. He just couldn't hit the side of a barn with a kick or handpass in 2017 for some reason.

Could bring those two in for Mitchell and priddis. Lecras could job share with parto/mutimer/lamb if he stays/waterman you know, the youngsters we want to give exposure to but aren't necessarily ready to play full time. If they are ready to play full time then they can force Lecras out. I sat play Lecras at home, but that's on the basis he's performing. Just hoping the march committe doesn't then get tempted to play him every week and cook him like the last two years

That would work to keep everyone happy ..

Geelong Pick 19 / GCS for Ablett

GCS Pick 19 / Freo for Weller

Freo Pick 19/ GWS for Wilson

Can't see how Gablett could be worth pick 19 at his age. He's probably worth a 2nd or 3rd rounder at best. Might only play 1 or 2 more seasons. GC will probably accept whatever Geelong offer, considering that he has said he'll retire otherwise. That being said, if he was an FA, the AFL might still give GC a 1st round compo pick...

Let him retire. Gc front loaded his contract and he took all the money now he wants to leave because the salary is low.

We struggle to attract WA talent.
Over the last two years, Cam McCarthy, Brad Hill, Tom Mitchell, Joel Hamling, Shane Kersten, Jarrod Pickett, Jaeger O'Meara, Harley Bennell and Chris Yarran have requested trades.

We have only lured back Jetta and were never in contention for any of the others.
Mitchell isn't really from WA, he was only in Perth for about 3 years up to when he was drafted, and it was only because his dad was an assistant at the Dockers at the time.

I'm not sure. As with most things AFL, the focus seems to be mainly on the talent available over there and how they go against each other. If we could trade 13 and 30 (or whatever it is) to 2 picks in the low 20's it may let us pick 2 pretty good local lads who otherwise may not be available in our picks down the line and I'm not convinced they would be any worse than the ones touted after the first 6 or so. You also don't have to put up with this "go home" nonsense.

I think Pants' suggestion of 13 for 19 & 22 was close to the mark. Giving up 30 as well would hurt.

From my own opinion of the draft I think pick 13 could still net us a really good midfield talent - whereas 19 and 22 we are probably a chance of getting a couple of 'okay' players. I think we need to put ourselves in the best position of getting an elite talent.

On the other hand, if we turn 13 into two picks it shows an intent to make more cuts to the list. It could spell the end for Wellingham for one.

Lecras shouldn't even be on the list, let alone getting games ahead of Rioli, Venables or fingers crossed, Ryan.

Now he's retained it should be for DEPTH purposes only, and he should know that by now. Having "fire" in the belly is all well and good, but when you're 32 years old and the club is finally going through a rebuild of sorts, you need to know your place and what's best for everyone going forward.

Disagree, travel doesn't kill him or any of the others. There has been no pressure been put on these players to replace them. It is easy to say just play someone else but they should have to perform highly at WAFL level to get picked and they don't.
Look at Partington this year, so many on here were screaming for him to be played yet lets look honestly at his year. He played an enormous amount of football at East Perth as a midfielder yet polled very poorly in the Sandover which to me is not the best guide but it is an indicator as you know about that huge gap between WAFL and AFL!!! He didn't even come top 3 in the East Perth best and Fairest yet some think he was knocking the door down.
My point is the players playing for the Eagles have little pressure to perform on them, of course they should want to and there character should be questioned but that is just the culture at the Eagles.

Culture, Committment and dedication to the cause is the reason we are so inconsistent, not just Lecras but many of our best 22.

Aren't most dudes who win the sandover more mature types, would be rare ,at least recently, for a 19yo to win it

Doubt we will go down this path but then again Simpson loves his kangaroos

Partington only played 13 games at EP

Yes you are right there and even though I mentioned it the point was not about the Sandover, but surely AFL listed players are expected to just dominate at WAFL level with there being such a gap? Tongue in cheek as I don't believe the gap is the size many think it is. Plenty of very good footballers playing at 2nd tier level who must get very frustrated watching so many average young kids getting listed at AFL level.

Why not?
A.Swallow on his own isn't worth it. But the possibility of drawing D.Swallow home next year (or even this year?) is very enticing.

3rd rounder -> Roos for A.Swallow.
Pick 13 and 32 -> GCS for D.Swallow and put him on $700k+/year.

Overs, maybe? But a move worth the risk if the Swallows would entertain it.
A midfield of Shuey/Swallow x2/Sheed/Yeo/Gaff/Duggan with Nic Nat handing it to them is top4 material.

I refuse to believe a base of Kennedy/McGovern/NicNat should be aiming for anything other than a premiership within the next 2-3years.

Wow, Andrew Swallow has no self awareness if he wants to dictate his trade. Like, you're shit, accept any offer you can get.

That being said he may not be making demands and I could be leaping to conclusions.

No way the only difference between Swallow and Priddis is that he puts it on his right boot. He's cooked
