Everyone happy?
Yes mate, wouldve liked to have seen some players traded (Schofield + Masten) but clearly the offers werent good enough or the players didnt want to move. Happy to see some strategy and risk taking with Rawlings, he looks an astute list manager. 5 picks in the top 37, happy with that. Now over to the recruiting team to nail those picks.

Spot on mate but the AFL clubs are all starting their 5 year plan with unknowns instead.
With so much player movement now days and young contracted players leaving after a couple of years development and nominating where they want to go, I wonder if this will change the way clubs recruit (other than for elite young talent).

Ok working things out.

The main requires 38 - 40 players

Last year we had 39, with 4 main list spots retired in Mitchell, Priddis, Butler and Giles, so 35 before trade period.

Add Ah Chee to main list = 36.

So if we use Picks 12, 21, 26, 32 & 37. Then we have to get rid of 1 of Hill, Wellingham or Lamb.
The end of Rawlings vid this arvo he says "5 picks" so you're probably spot on

the message is solid, clubs would prefer to take a stab on an unknown kid in the 50-110 range rather than the likes of Masten, Lamb etc. This is wise of them and shows our list issues. I think we are now on the right track and some very tough decisions have been made already.

My concern is that if he's 23 and isn't going to be guaranteed best 22, then why take him with an earlish pick? If he can come in an play right away, then sure. Use an early pick on him.

I find the objection to the risks associated with youth a weird objection. Ultimately that's where the reward comes from, it comes from the unknowns. When a guy is a little older those unknowns disappear, which is why someone like Kelly gets drafted but not drafted really high up the order.

FB Hurn Barrass Duggan
HB Sheppard McGovern Yeo
C Gaff Redden AhChee
HF Cripps Darling Venables
FF Lecras Kennedy Rioli
R Naitanui Sheed Shuey

I Jetta, Kelly, Nelson, Vardy/Lycett

E Cole Hutchings Masten Emac

Really solid best 22.

Our depth still sucks and lots of deadwood. But at least we're heading in the right direction.

Hopefully our 2017 1st Pick is ready to go and pushes into the team as well!

Exciting preseason ahead.

So basically we're hoping GC finish bottom 4 again and we finish top 8 in 2018.

Basically if things occur again we're down grading our first pick in 2018 - say Pick 11-13 to GC's Pick 20-22 for 3 second rounders in 2017.

Pretty smart move. At worst its a 10-12 pick downgrade of our 2018 first pick for 3x second rounders.

Obviously we are targeting some players.
Guarantees Tim Kelly.

Excited to add Naitanui, Ah Chee, Rioli, Venables, Kelly to our Best 22. Speed skill class agility.

Big change in a shot amount of time.

At least the first part of that equation is going to happen. The rest is up to us.

I like this just so I could UNLIKE it.

Some people are just never happy.
I said 'Go Figure?' slowly in my head 9 times...seemed to help

Edit; I'm in full support of WCE ballsy trading attitude & don't understand posters' negative attitude to everything /anything the club undertakes.
