Looks like he has just finished a portrait of Avishka. Dare I say Vishy accomplished!

Do you guys think we should give oscar Allen a go with our first pick this year ?
Had an impressive carnival

I know A lot of you guys will say we should use it on s midfielder.
But he will be gone by our second pick and we do need a future replacement for JK, ( I don't believe it should be gov)

Height is his main issue. Listed as 191cm which puts him firmly in the 190-193cm range inhabited by Darling, Waterman, Allen and Lamb who are already on our list

He may still be growing so if he get up to, or just over, 195cm then he becomes more attractive as he gets into genuine KPF range

It's certainly not a draft to be trading out our 1st rounder unless it's part of getting a genuine A grader in a trade

If he does grow into that size; he could very well go up the rankings once again.

Ah I didn't realize his height keys
That makes me think twice now

Listed as 193cm on the WAFL website although that's probably a less accurate source. He'll get measured at the Combine for sure which will be the best bet.

Sounds like more of a Lamb-style utility than a true KPF so unless he can develop a bit of midfield utility I'm only lukewarm on him in the first round.

Was interviewed last week and asked about his height said he had already grown to 192 in the last few months and said he thought he had a few more cm in him.
That makes him an interesting proposition because he has some of the stickiest hands I have seen for a while.
His work below his knees and his ground work belies his height.

That said I believe there will still be some very tantalising midfielders still on the board at out pick so I would be in favour of going that route.

Plenty can change between now and the draft in November and if Allen grows another few cms to say 194 + he may well be gone before our pick anyway.

He was on AFL 360 last week and said he was now 192 cm and still growing expecting to get more the 195 cm height. At that height and with his strong overhead marking, he will be an attractive option, but probably not for us.

I would be very comfortable drafting him but not with our first and he may well be gone after that. I think this year we go for a quality midfielder with our first and there will be good KPP options in the second round.

I want us to prioritise a kpf this season. Now would be the perfect time to draft and develop a jjk replacement.

Here is the U18 AA team - just announced

FB: Paton (VC) Clavarino (VC) Taylor (WA)
HB Constable (VM) Naughton (WA) Coffield (VM)
C Naish (VM) Ainsworth (WA) Rankine (SA)
HF Bailey (All) Brander (All) Higgins (VM)
FF Coleman-Jones (SA) Allen (WA) Moore (VM)
F Crossley (All) Rayner (VM) Dow (VC)

Int Hayes VM, L Fogarty (VM) Petty (SA) Worpel (VC) Garner (VM)

Ainsworth was a bit of a surprise for me. He got a fair amount of the ball but his kicking let him down.

I see the likes of Moore, Dow, Worpel, Garner, Coffield, Constable and Higgins in our sight for the first rounder. Some will likely go earlier but there will be a good prospect mid to chose from. And before people bang on about a flanker, many of these boys played HF and HB as well as midfield rotations. Example - Rayner spent more time as a fwd than he did as a midfielder.

Naughton and Taylor both making the AA team. Who knows how this draft will pan out but wouldn't be unhappy if either of those boys made our list with our 2nd or 3rd round pick

I'd prefer it if we didn't trade anything higher than a 4th round pick and ideally we pick up one or two extra round 2/3 picks. Unclear how we do that though besides Masten and/or one of Schofield/Mackenzie (will need FA compo for eMac which we can't control)

Agree on a KPD in Taylor or Naughton though Naughton has risen in rating and on draft boards since the carnival. Balta is another KPD that would be OK at our second (got some campaigner in him) and Clavarino would be around there for our 2nd.

I think the talent at 10 to 30 looks quite even - almost like the Duggan draft year. That said, the top 10 looks less than last year. I can see us taking 4 live picks this year. Now how do we upgrade them?

Ideally we pick up another second round pick. Not sure how. If Mackenzie restricted, based on current form then there may be something more in our control. Masten will not get much.

What about Petrie - any chance we cash in with the "go home" factor! A 2016 rookie that has been upgraded and played every game this year when available.

Surely we go backwards if we consider this:

"Young midfielder Liam Duggan will definitely be a target for Victorian clubs even though he’s signed until the end of 2018 – he’s a good player, highly-rated and potential captain material.

West Coast would definitely not want to lose him but he would have currency and if it would help them secure a Jason Johannisen o_O or a player that would improve them immediately then could they look at it?

Nearly every Victorian club would be interested.

Tom Cole would be another one with currency that would draw the interest of many of the Victorian clubs and could help them do a deal for a player that will fill a need."

I'd be livid if we traded either Cole or Duggan unless they expressed a desire to go back to Victoria which I'd doubt at this stage

Pretty bland article tbh. Mentions going hard for Gov Jnr, JJ, Matera so nothing new.

Says we could trade Duggan, then puts him in our untouchables list o_O

BUCKY’S UNTOUCHABLES
Andrew Gaff, Shannon Hurn, Luke Shuey, Elliot Yeo, Nic Naitanui, Matt Priddis, Josh Kennedy, Jeremy McGovern, Scott Lycett, Tom Barrass, Liam Duggan* (*could be involved in a trade if the Eagles get a really good deal).

Was massive on getting JJ a few months back and his attitude to over last month has been a huge turn off. We need more people with attitude and mongrel and not the shy and timid type. Duggan and Cole have both shown mongrel and that would be dissaponting to see us part ways with them.
