Mackenzie is worth more as list depth than anything we will get for him.

That may well be the case, however if he thinks he is only going to be a depth player he might decide to ply his trade elsewhere.
Cant blame players for wanting to play at the highest level.

Also thats a tad presumptuous saying he would be worth more than anything we would get for him...... who knows what we would get with the draft pick that we may receive if he left, its all speculative.

Not sure I follow you. A depth player is worth more than anything we could get for him? It was stated that Brisbane offered us pick 21 for eMac last year and he did not have a good 2016. Another year older but showing he has 3 more years of good football ahead of him. That would be a second rounder in my opinion.

We have in defensive talls McGovern, Barrass, Mackenzie and Schofield. To support and assuming we only need 2 genuine talls, as a 3rd tall we have Yeo, developing Rotham and possible Gorter with both Sheppard and Hurn also capable of playing the role. We could trade Mackenzie now and get a draft pick and get Sam Taylor which would give us another KPD and he would be ready when Schofield is looking to go. We could also retain McInnes who has also played CHB/FB.

So we could lose eMac, keep our 1st pick for a gun midfielder, use our eMac for a really good KPD plus use our second to get a smaller midfield/forward.

It looks OK to me but there again you obviously have a different view to list management.

Admittedly I only saw him in the one game but he also looked kinda slow

Built like a brick shithouse which helps at that level but he won't have the same advantage in the AFL

Think there's likely to be better options for us

It's of my opinion that West Coast need to undergo a rebuild if they don't win the premiership this year - I couldn't think of a more underwhelming way to start it off than by picking up an undersized key forward. He flourishes as the 4th or 5th forward at Adelaide because he has so much support and no super good opponent on him. At West Coast, he'd have far less support and a better opponent. For the sake of both club and player, I think he should stay at Adelaide. Eagles should bank their pick on a top notch midfielder or a key forward to learn under and eventually succeed JJK.

This is my exact thoughts regarding Mitch. The truth is, most of us wouldn't give him a second thought if his name wasn't Mcgovern. I'd be prety devasted if we give up a first round pick this season for him.

Would like to see Gaff traded at the end of the year for a young mid/high draft pick. He runs all day but is far too slow for this midfield, good player but just doesn't suit us at the moment.

Well we are crying out for a 3rd tall forward type, if there's one thing a team can't have too many of it's 3rd tall forwards. Not like the personnel on the field have any affect on the game anyway.

Judging by the phantom drafts there will be some very good midfield prospects available at our pick 1 ,especially if we continue on like this[emoji6]

I have as much faith in our list management team as I do our match committee.
What I'd like to see us do is along the lines of Gaff & something for the Saints first and Acres. That way we have 2 x 1st round picks and can take a midfielder and a key position player.

We really need to phase some of these older players out as we will fall off a cliff soon like norf Melbourne did .
