Matera's last 2 games have been top notch. Watch this space?
Literally plug and play replacement of LeCras

definitely the 6 Goals haul v Hawks would have got some interest ..Plus very good v Carlton tonight on the road backed it up ..

You don't consider Rioli a genuine small forward?
Yes i do but 1 small fwd in the last 10 years is not enough and Rioli hasn't proven him self yet.
Most teams have 2-3 speedy crumbing fwds. We have none in the best 22 atm and an injured over weight Rioli.

Really wouldn't mind targeting Matera if he can continue this form. A consistent matera will add so much value to our side. Guys is a great crumbing forward but would add speed to a wing on a wing or hff. Also he would probably the most likely groper we could land.

One thing Matera isn't quick at all but has very good agility, and a natural crumber of the footy.
Apparantly according to Rocket pulled his finger out and got his off field issues sorted and is playing great footy again.

Seems to be quicker than our small. Then again he could be a type that receives the ball while at full pace and it makes him ultra quick. But definitely should be someone we look at if he can have a good year.

Cripps would kill him for speed, he is like Walters uses his smarts well and plays to his strengths.
Like LeCras his defensive side is poor though

If he's playing good footy this year he would cost more than he's worth to us.

Pass.
Matera is 25 and has never been a consistent footballer. He's not the answer

We have an aging list and need to be focusing on building through the draft. I like what we did last year by keeping our draft picks and used little currency to bring in experienced players to fill specific roles

I'd be happy with a repeat of that with the addition of a more rigorous exploration of adding draft picks or improving draft position by trading out one or two players

Who to trade tho? McKenzie or Schofield ,one of them.won't be at the club next year
Has vardy or Giles shown enough to make lycett traceable?
If McGovern goes forward more is darling going to be talked about again come trade time?

Yeah much easier to say trade someone than it is to identify who. A lot depends on how this year pans out and whether we think we can contend in 2018

Lol. You guys have been talking about Matera for the last 4 years. Move on people

Oh boy it's gonna be a long year having to read posts like "trade Mackenzie" over and over again when he is a FREE AGENT and does not need to be traded.

Just like last year with Mitch Brown.
Yes I understand that but if we let him walk through FA then we may get more than in a trade

Emac's trade value peaked last year IMO. Schofield would be a 2nd rounder at best. If we resigned Emac it would be significantly cheaper than now. I guess we'll know more about Vardy and Giles at mid season; Vardy is better around the ground but Giles is a better tap ruckman. If Vardy picks up his ruck skills and starts to live up to his potential then we might be laughing, although given his injury history we'd be courageous relying on him retaining full fitness.
If Gov goes forward then we keep Darling. Trading Darling out then having Kennedy retire leaves us short a KPF/third tall.

We've got waterman and Allen coming through and I'm guessing our first rounder this year will be a kpf but yes I agree trading darling would be a ballsy move.
Vardy too once nic Nat and lycett are back
Interested to see if watson can be a good forward too

He can still be traded though because he's a restricted free agent, like Dangerfield was.
I don't think that's a realistic scenario with Mackenzie.

I can't see Mackenzie telling the club that he wants to move on for more game time and then West Coast saying nah bugger ya, we are going to match the offer and continue to play you in the WAFL.

Could be many reasons for wanting to trade with us though depending on what comes back. They may want to trade a player back to us to open up enough salary cap to fit Mackenzie in. Might be part of a larger trade involving multiple players/picks or even teams.

Cant trade Lycett who knows what Nic will be like with his knee.... he could be Emac'd :(
