Didn't Yeo come here at least partly because Rockliff was a tool? Don't see us pissing off the 2017 Brownlow medallist by inviting his nemesis to follow him here...
A few Brisbane boys left that year, I'm not sure if it was because of Rockliff or if there were other issues going on.

Interested to know peoples thoughts on Jonathon Marsh. Came home for personal reasons and has racked up 31, 34, 30, 30, 33, 27 & 20 touches in a struggling EF team as well as 4 goals in 7 games. 190cm and pace for days, I know a few on here were keen to grab him late in his draft year.

People that have seen him play this season (Keys) what are your thoughts?

Rookie spot if we have one available but TBH honest I am not convinced he will ever make it, that said if his off fields issues that are now behind him living with family back in Perth he may be worth a late rookie punt.
Lets see how the remainder of the WAFL season goes.
I am pretty sure he is much taller than 190 cm more like 192/3 now.

As far as undervalued players that are out of contract at seasons end Steven May is flying very much under the radar.

He plays both ends and at 25 he still has a lot of good footy ahead of him.
Darwin boy so the Melbourne lure wont be as bright.
If he was playing for a Melbourne Club he would be talked up much more.

He is a hard arsed tough SOB and some additional hardness in our team would not go astray.

He must be getting sick of playing in a side thats not a contender.

Putting it out there ...............Thought.

Would be a good pick up.If we got him and marsh we could really look at trading Schofield and letting emac go through free agency

it could be a smart move. barrass is still young but i see him as more of an interceptor rather than a lock down type and could play Gov's role. Then we can send gov forward.

Wasn't May the topic of Barrett's weekly insightful and though provoking Sliding doors this week???

I haven't watched a lot of GC so pretty uninformed, but would definitely enquire about him, is he a free agent or would we need to trade, as I can't see Gold coast selling him cheaply

Only seen him play twice this season - once in a practice match when I didn't realise until after who he was and then again last weekend

If we're looking for players with a bit of campaigner in their game then he has it spades. Absolute plonker

Can find the ball though and has been playing as a big bodied midfielder rather than a defender. Very aggressive, not too bright and decent pace. Good overhead from memory and is a solid unit

Wasn't paying attention to his disposal too much so aren't going to comment on that

As one eye said above might be a rookie list consideration but I'd be waiting to see how he plays out the rest of the year.

He really is a bit of a pillock though

1 year short of qualifying for FA. So trade.

Even if we don't get and tbh we don't really need May, recruiting Marsh would allow us to move on both Schoey and Mackenzie. Smart business move.

Jonathan Marsh is a bit of a spud. He's a classic athlete trying to play football. Personally I think he's probably going to be a good WAFL mid and that's about it.

I would be keeping an eye on Jono marsh if he can develop a good inside game even with his shoddy disposal his athletic ability makes him an intruging extractor if he can develop the footy iq and extraction skills

Turboman1994 but thats the thing I cant remember to many player who have been able to do this, as its an innate trait that you either have or you don't.

Skills are improvable, to a certain extent.......... but footy IQ..... thats a whole different story.

Footy IQ, by its very nature, is a complexed layered set of skills and decisions and the ability to actually simultaneously cross reference of all these abilities in the right measure at the right time.

Its what distinguishes those player with a high footy IQ from the all so rans.

To an extent he still is

See ball, get ball, kick ball

He's very good at it and Simpson has allowed him to do just that - much better footballer with the ball coming at him

And rightly so.
Last year Yeo was indeed a dumb footballer.

Now he is been played in a position that he excels at, as he only has to look at the game thats in front of him him and he does it so well. :thumbsu:
But thats nothing that we hadn't seen in previous years, all be it, this year he has got better at it.

But it still remains to be seen if he can master his decision making , to the same level when he has a 360 degree spectrum to take in.
Here's hoping he can, because if he can he will be one of the very few who's footy IQ has been developed.
But more to the point, if he can, then he will be a HUGE asset to West Coast going forward.

I didn't say that footy IQ development is impossible, rather I stated that its rare.
I still stand by that comment.

Don't want Rockliff - if he is any good Brisbane would be lot higher up the ladder.

Would you have said the same about Gaz a few years ago at the GCS ?

Now I`m not saying Rocky equals Gazza but the notion is very simplistic and at school boy footy level it may have some merit but not in the big bad AFL ..

Barrass needs to be developed as defender he doesn`t have Gov`s mobiity otherwise he may just be a Graham Polak type that just stands in the hole rather than be accountable to pick up a man in defence ..
