How did he go in that game?
Loved his work, was the clear Simpson medallist for me but they gave it to Saunders, who was on the end of most of his good work.

On a small ground against big bodies in slightly heavy conditions he was a class above, using dash and evasiveness to cut the Vics up and didn't miss a target all day. Not afraid of the contest either. Have long compared him to a more contested Brad Hill.

Sounds like exactly the type of player we need, let's hope the club are looking into picking him up. Would love both him and Liam Ryan from the WAFL next year.

I don't think Liam Ryan has the defensive game to make it at AFL level. Can't be one dimensional as a small forward.

isn't Stephen hill the more contested version of Brad?

Fair enough, I haven't seen much of him I've just been impressed by his goal tallies. Any forwards in the WAFL currently that you think could make it at AFL level?
I doubt I watch enough to make any meaningful suggestions. The better WAFL prospects for mine are further down the ground such as Kelly, Schloithe (ducking aside I think he's a reasonable player) and Lockyer as a third tall. Kelly the only of those three mature agers I think will be drafted.

Surely Ryans defensive side can be developed. This is a raw kid from the bush that come in tothe WAFL and dominanted. He is only going to get better in professional environment.

I used to think so but I've made a point of watching him closer when possible this year and I don't see it improving enough. Add the fitness issues too and it becomes clear why he went undrafted.

Saunders is the stand out forward for me but there's just as much chance that his missed the mature age rookie boat so to speak.

I've been a Clancy Wheeler fan for a long time but he'll be 30 next season so again time is against him. Should have been at least AFL rookie listed some years ago.

Surely he is worth a crack on the rookie list. We need a Livewire forward and he is a Livewire. Get him late or on a rookie list.

Not AFL standard for me; for an undersize forward he isn't quick nor skilled enough to make the step up.

He hadn't got the body shape I think to play Afl even though he does remind of as a afl comparison of Paul Medhurst as he is a strong overhead and can kick bags of goals when he's on ..

Although I'd mostly only seen his stats and wasn't sure if he'd be suited for AFL, I thought he'd be worth a rookie list spot after his 1st 2 seasons (in reserves and league) when he kicked 60+ goals.

at 187cm i can't see saunders being drafted tbh. He plays taller than he is but at AFL level he will get caught out.

Why would we even be contemplating this guy when we have Allen, Waterman and Jack as our third tall forwards. Waste of a rookie spot.

Not necessarily thinking just for West Coast.

A team like Brisbane for example could use Saunders as an 3rd mid size/ tall forward with a stronger body and more developed than say Hipwood and Schache

We should put a deal that includes darling for schache.

Thoughts on going for libba? The bloke is a contested gun at his best but isn't a plodder and hinderance defensively like Priddis. at the right price i would be keen.

Should get Cuzzy to talk to him

He's a bit of a loose cannon tbh and a strong chance of going off the rails. Dusty Martin would be more reliable
