Any word on why he's not getting a game with the saints?
plethora of inside mids so when he gets a run he plays on a flank or forward . It's not his position . He goes well on ball at vfl level comes back into the team to play on a flank .
The kind of player who will just explode one day

Sorry, I read your post properly after and saw you'd written that, I was bedazzled by the video. Agree, he could be the line breaking mid we've been looking for.

Players who need decisions made on:

Main List:

Butler, LeCras, Priddis, Mitchell (probably retire), Lamb, EMac (free agent?), Masten, Giles, Wellingham, Hill

Rookie:

Tunbridge, Snadden, Petrie, McInnes, Gorter

All could be gone by next preseason. Obviously that's too many players to delist, but a lot of those players do not offer us a lot going forward.

We have some decent bait and plenty of salary cap space. If McGovern leaves Adelaide you'd have to think he's coming to us. Do we purely build for the future and potentially (likely) completely discount our chances whilst having nicnat and JK or do we go really hard at a rejig.

Outside run can generally be replaced much easier than quality inside grunt. I want gaff gone, i've had enough and i don't think he's ever going to be amazing for us. I also want masten gone. With free agency and club discussions i could see some interesting trades happening. Pay a little bit more for zaharakis than he is potentially worth to ensure essendon get a first rounder out of it and they may then be willing to cough up their second rounder for masten. They lose zaharakis, but gain some potential replacement outside run and upgrade a pick from around 30 - 10-13. If a good offer goes to brisbane for Rocky i see him leaving. Brisbane at this stage will get either pick 2 or pick 3 as compensation for him leaving. They would be very silly to keep him imo if there's a club out there willing to pay 800k a year for his services.

So say we lose gaff and masten and acquire rockliff, zaharakis and mcgovern through this scenario.

For gaff we get the saints pick 9 and acres for gaff and our pick 30 odd.
for masten we acquire pick 30 odd.
Zaharakis and Rockliff both cost us 800k a season roughly each.
Mcgovern isn't worth a first but he's worth more than a second. I can see us losing the pick we would acquire for masten plus karpany or even potentially lamb if adelaide want a potential replacement on their list.
Gov junior is going to cost 600k on a longer term contract imo.

So theres 2.5million coming into the salary cap and about 1mill going out between masten and gaff.

We then have 2 first round picks this year and a first round pick next year that we can look at using to acquire a superstar target. You look at some of the other salary cap we have going out and i can genuinely see us having roughly 1mill to spend or maybe a touch more even after all that coming into the team sheet. How much are we then willing to offer for a patrick cripps, a zorko etc. etc.

If we can reinvigorate the midfield and sort out some of our coaching issues is it worth having a crack while we can. We need hardness, pressure, scoreboard impact and ball winning ability through the centre and we need it ASAP or this group is going to amount to nothing. Does someone like David Swallow become a target now that he looks to be overcoming his prior injury issues and with a still likely much lower trade value than his talent suggests.

FB Sheppard Barrass Cole
HB Yeo Mcgovern Duggan
C Jetta Sheed Redden
HF Venables Darling Zaharakis
FF Mcgovern Kennedy Cripps
R Nicnat Shuey Rockliff
I Vardy Acres Nelson Hutchings

Personally i'd now also consider schofield, hurn, butler, lecras, wellingham, petrie, priddis, mitchell, lecras, lamb, tunbridge, giles completely expendable as well. Lycett could also see himself as trade bait too imo. With a lot of that group going out however we would also need to bring in more depth imo.

Good summary list. Most must go which is a real summary of our drafting - garbage in garbage out

Zaharakis is in the middle of signing his new contract . cross him off your list .

Gaff gets hard tag yesterday and our link play turns to shit and we get beaten by a crap pies team. Would not like to spend a whole season without him without a decent outside mid replacement.

Why can't Jetta take up the slack on his wing he's been as much use as **** on a bull ..He was acquired to bring us run but I've seen nothing that I was hoping for when we drafted him ..

He's also been pretty decent since coming back into the team mid season. Strange target

Some decent thoughts in the post but if you think we are going to get pick 30 for Masten - dream on. After 2015 we could have dreamt but not after his 2016 and even worse 2017. Plus I cannot see any currency for Lamb. I believe we tried last year and there were no takers. Another year in the WAFL without being given a senior run means even less currency.

This popular love interest with Gov junior is worrying. Don't get me wrong about Mitch, he is a good player and I would love him in the team. But up front is not the problem. For most of this year, we have not been able to extract the ball from the centre bounces and stoppages.

Pick 30 for masten on his own is zero chance of happening. I can however see where lining things up so essendon get a first round pick out of free agency sees that result.

Don't forget the Irishman Paddy Brophy

I have zero confidence in our drafting.
It should be simple.

We must get a young Key forward to develop, but the priority must be quality mids (No gaff, masten etc -must be fast, have AFL skill and abive all be a competitor)

**** Gaff. I couldn't care less if he gets a hard tag or not. And i definitely don't see him as a required player, very one dimensional.

He's either so tired with all the running he's doing that he fluffs his subsequent kick due to exhaustion.

OR.. He's either so tired with all the running he's doing that he's moving at a snails pace and whatever space he's created on his opponent is closed down pretty quickly and his kick is rushed anyway. Whilst his gut running is good, i don't think he really hurts teams with it.

Throw in the fact he's constantly running around calling for it in a bad position with an opponent on his hammer and it's enough to infuriate you.

Good enough player in any side but like most of our blokes he has a very low football IQ.

This season i havent done too much research into the draft and i'm now just looking into it. So far (purely watching the youtube clips lol), Luke Davis- uniacke, Cam rayner and Darcy Fogerty have caught my eye.

Not really a strange target ,you said outside run which is what Jetta was supposed to bring and I've seen SFA yes sure he may get a handball or 2 but no serious line breaking runs ..

LDU and Rayner will probably go one and two. Fogarty I suspect may slide due to a poor champs and I suspect he is another Darling. Could go second round.
