How much money do we have potentially? I don't think we were tight with the cap. Now we have Priddis and Mitchell retiring freeing up 500k or so. Mackenzie, lecras and wellingham getting reduced contracts. Probably freeing up another 500k? Butler maybe retiring. To me it looks like we could have 1-1.5 million a year and that's before we factor in the increased salary cap from this years payrise. Surely we are after somebody? Otherwise we won't even meet our min cap.

Was just about to pose the same question. Although probably surplus to immediate need, I think we'll go for McGovern. Cognilio or Acres would be the two that should be targets imo. Problem is we'd need to give up a bit to get it all done...

We have money, but not a lot of picks or currency. And any currency we have (eg. Masten, Mackenzie) would be swapped leaving another list spot to be filled.

If he is injury free, Sheed will have a big season in 2018.
Need to work on his tank as well. You need to be extremly fit to get 30 disposals (or close to it) a week. His 4th quarter fade outs have been disappointing.

Trent mynott could be a good pick up around the middle of the draft, not talked about often but looks to be able to get the ball a lot

Mitch McGovern still unsigned at Adelaide ,,...believed to have been offered $370 k at Adelaide but likes Adelaide but has a cashed up Fremantle and Eagles both interested in his sevices unless Adelaide up there offer to what Fremantle can offer at $550k .

On a side note the West is being mischievous saying that brother Jeremy is coming out of contract next season and as a restricted free agent next season , the Eagles need to sure up McGoverns services with a long term deal which could help snare Mitch McGovern maybe .

I really hope we retain our first pick and not trade that away.

Use our 2nd + ? to get Mitch McGovern.
Use a 3rd to land Matera after offering him good $.
Pick up Ah Chee for next to nothing from Port.

So next season the next generation coming through include Venables, Rioli, Mutimer, M McGovern, Matera, Ah Chee, Watson plus we get NickNat and Lycett back.

That's nine players who have played a grand total of 3 games this season.

If a couple of other players move and land us picks we use them. EG EMac FA, Le cras FA and even Wellingham for Matera. Sure we are talking 3rd or forth rounders but I would package those picks together with say a next years 2nd or 3rd and trade those to one of the expansion teams that needs point to land an academy kid or father son. Get another first or second rounder for this year.

Rockliff as a FA should also come into consideration.

mcgovern , matera and Ah Chee don't fix our midfield . Rockliff is also counter intuitive to getting games into our future midfield . It's my opinion that rockliff has his best footy behind him and is just looking for a last big contract
