Carlton
Receive: Gaff
Lose: Pick 2

West Coast
Receive: Gov Jr, Pick 2
Lose: Gaff

Adelaide
Receive: Gibbs
Lose: McGov Jr

We win that trade, but it seems like Adelaide lose out.

Thinking only at this point, and it does seem like adelaide win but really struggling to balance it, think there may be a swap later on:
Carlton
Receive: Gaff, 18 (assume they finish top)
Lose: Pick 2, Gibbs

West Coast
Receive: Gov Jr, Pick 2
Lose: Gaff, 9

Adelaide
Receive: Gibbs, 9
Lose: McGov Jr, 18

Cartlon
In: Gaff, Adelaide 1st, Masten
Out: Gibbs, Pick 2

WCE:
In: Pick 2, Gov Jnr
Out: Gaff, Lycett, Masten

Adelaide:
In: Gibbs, Lycett
Out: 1st rounder; Gov Jnr

In reality Carlton probably wants our second instead of Masten but I just want to dump Masten somewhere.
We're paying too much I reckon. Lycett probably doesnt need to be part of this deal - unless Carlton ponies up a second/third for Masten which comes back to us.

It's basically Lycett for Gov which is fair given Lycett's injuries and then Gaff + whatever for pick 2. I think they're both fair trades in their own right.

Agreed - but we get nothing for Masten. I know its chicken feed but he would get us something, considering out list turnover this year every pick will be valuable for us because of how deep we'll go in the draft. Add in to the fact that Charlie Cameron is going to be targeted heavily by the Lions then maybe Adelaide will change it up a bit.

I think Gaff for 2 straight up is weighted in our favour, Masten (or Lamb or pick or whatever) was to balance it out a bit.

Interesting thought:

The Rover:
There’s going to be a big clean out at West Coast come season’s end with veterans like Sam Butler, Mark LeCras, Matt Priddis, Sam Mitchell and Drew Petrie either already announcing their retirements or soon to do so.

Which is why I find it hard to believe a rumour I’ve heard over the past couple of weeks from three different sources.

Word is there’s a super-trade under consideration of Andrew Gaff going to Carlton, Bryce Gibbs to Adelaide and Mitch McGovern to the Eagles, with a couple of draft picks moving around too.

Gaff’s been a gun for the Eagles the past three years and it’s hard to see the logic in moving him on, other than that he’s a free agent at the end of 2018 and West Coast may want to trade him while they can get a fair price.

The other two components – Gibbs and McGovern moving home – are both likely to happen, so maybe Gaff could be worked in to the package, but personally I’d rate him the best player in this deal so any ‘steak knives’ thrown in would have to be pretty fancy ones.

See the shitstorm you have created!!

rumour seems to be gov jr re-signing for 2 more years.

Gibbs is the best player of the three he's just 3 years older than Gaff which makes them pretty much equal value imo, Carlton won't give up pick 2 - who would? To me Gaff is worth a 1st round pick or 2 second rounders which is I would be happy with in MMcgovern and a second rounder

no way the players involved will see Pick 2 moving home

Cole to Freo, Dawson to Carlton, Palmer to WCE.

Not quite Cole stays at WCE, but the WAFL arrange that both Dawson and Palmer are Perth's elite signings for the 2018 WAFL season, all part of their equalisation plan to help Perth improve.
