the Gaff to carlton wont ever happen, gaff isnt worth a 2nd round pick. Considering tom mitchell went for pick 14. Gibbs will goto adelaide and carlton will spend picks with GWS for kelly or goto the draft
Titchell was out of contract and not exactly being begged to stay by the Swans.

I'm not suggesting you should listen to SEN but it's cool to see some mock drafts. The above would leave us with Higgins, Clark or O'Brien, to name 3 that we've talked about a bit here.
Freo would have rocks in their head to.take naughton, they have got a few promising young kpds

Yeah, they didn't put a lot of thought into it.

Still, it's the first time I've seen A-Naught in a top 10, so good on him.

Also, on a semi related point, the more I research this draft, the more I want to trade our first pick.

Swans made mitchell play heaps of neafl because he was a turnover merchant . Swans have a more elite midfield without him .
One of the greatest supporters of the biggest turnover merchant in our midfield history casually dismisses another clubs midfielder as a turnover merchant.

says we get pick 8.
Pick 8 is a Sheed, Shep, Duggan type - or a Masten etc.

But a proven performed with some experience at pick 8 is possibly a better option.

Just depends on luck etc.

I can not trust our recruiters to get either option right

Like who ??????

Disagree I think the on going uncertainty of Alex Pearce health and the soon to retire Johnson will place further pressure on their young KPD.
Apart from a few ageing players Dawson and Johnson on their list I don't see a lot coming through that can play down back apart from Cox.

They have Hamling who can handle the role , Logue is a work in progress and only time will tell if he can play above his height as a genuine KPP.

Naughton has been super impressive in his WAFL games and I would think he would be climbing fast up draft boards.

If you disregard the tall duds on their list Appeness and Clarke , the list is pretty thin of players of any quality over 194 cm.

do you rate Hamling? Offensively a good but defensively pretty average. One of those defenders that relies the mids pressuring up field and his fellow defenders helping out. Reminds me of Will Schofield in 2015.

Yes I rate Hamling as being AFL quality but he has many shortcoming that will limit his impact, a good foot solider never the less but no A grade KPD more B at best.
Agree with most of the points in your post.

Have I just read three pages discussing Gaff going to Carlton for pick 2 in a three way trade that see's us get Gov jnr as well?

Seems that shit time of year has started early this year.
just went onto have a look at Adelaide's site to see what they think re MMcGovern - somebody who calls themselves "threefa9" made a statement "McGovern will not be going to Fremantle". Make of that what you will! Also is there a hidden message in the username?

Brennan Cox looks the best of all Freos KPP .....U18s All Australian CHB and has a stong pair of hands and moves well .

If Naughton was available at our pick we might even draft him and expect the future of McInnes and Schofield to be in jeopardy straight after the draft if we select Naughton .

Agree to disagree, the two you mention thats like saying McInnes and Lamb are up and comers.

Collins is 23 and played 13 games, Undergang is 22 and yet to debut , good WAFL players but neither have shown anything yet to suggest that they could hold down CHB going forward.

Also with my way of thinking - what pick are we likely to be (9?) and who has pick 3? I know I'm probably clutching at straws!!

Collins, Darcy, Tabener I think all have talent.
They're all the players I wouldn't mind at WCE anyway.

* Edit- I'm talking about young talls in general.

I do rate Collins as a KPD though.

Not sure Freo will have much left in the tin.

Someone was muttering about Freo getting MMcGovern and Hogan on the radio this morning :drunk:

Freo going after Mcgovern, Hogan, Wilson and Matera. Will not be able to get all 4 thats for sure. Guarantee 1 of those 4 will end up with us

Could actually see Collins making it. Probably not an A grader but IMO he is a better lockdown prospect than hamling.

I fear that all the rage for intercepting marking and rebounding talls might see the decline of talls that can purely shut down a forward. While locking down is no longer the main priority personally (especially regarding us ) i want a team to have one KPD that can purely negate the oppositions best tall. Im not sure if Barrass in the future will be that either.

Not quite Cole stays at WCE, but the WAFL arrange that both Dawson and Palmer are Perth's elite signings for the 2018 WAFL season, all part of their equalisation plan to help Perth improve.
Monocle you seem to have the inside word on a lot of things footy. You are the sole reason i check this thread daily. Fascinating

Hogan is contracted for a few years, Matera is meh, McGovern...well, too expensive for somebody who doesn't draw a good defender at the moment.

Funnily enough the one I'd most like from that list is Wilson.
