Don't recall you or anybody else complaining about this on draft day in 2014. It's easy to say 3 years on. Fact is while we wanted gov we probably rated lamb 20-30 picks higher. Lamb was projected to be a 1st - early 2nd rounder so we got a deal at pick 30 odd. I still think it's possible he turns out ok. Just depends if we can change around our shit developing strategies
lol I was one of the only ones.

You'll find I was greatly pissed off about drafting Lamb. All the way before draft, at draft day and since. Oh and I thought Gov Jnr was a very good chance of being there at our third at the time. The club may have thought similarly.

There seems to be a bit of rivalry there,Chris pops up on kms phantom draft page a bit rubbishing his veiws a fair bit

Good news is this WCE will have the most spare money its had for ten years to spend on players.
5 of the highest paid players McKenzie, Le Cras, Mitchell, Wellingham and Priddis contracts come
of the books. Which gives us more money than Freo has to spend.

So the rumours of Lecras and Mackenzie being offered one year contracts are not true?

WCE and Sydney Swans very keen on him, classy half forward.
Tim Kelly could be a wce 3rd round pick club really wants him.

RE Kelly would be a great pick up with our third rounder.
Your thought on Farrant ?

It sounds like Mackenzie and LeCras will stay though and Wellingham is a chance.

I sense Kelly falls between our second and third and so we may have to overpay if we want him.

I think Clark may be my favourite of the lot tbh. Monocle do you have any inside knowledge / an opinion on him?

bl4ke I am a big fan of the kid. I love the way he get involved in the contest and stays involved until there is an outcome, his inside work is first class and generally effective.

It will be an important ( stating the bleeding obvious I know ) 10 weeks for him as we all get a better picture of where he may lob come draft night.
His form post Championship has been excellent and most pleasing is that he has been played as a genuine midfielder for The Stingrays.
He thus far is the only flanker that is being touted as having potential midfield capabilities that has convinced me of such.
He has been getting lots of contested possessions of late in the TAC Cup and he has also been getting on the score board as well.

Ticks a lot of boxes for me , speed, good endurance, impressive ground coverage and running patterns.
Clark kicks the ball as well as any other in this cohort on his non preferred and also has clean hand skills on both sides of his body.
Sure there are others that have better foot skills on their preferred foot, but the detractors of Clark's preferred foot skills are IMO blowing it out of proportion, as they focus way too intently on what he could do better and not enough on what he excels at. Such as they did with SPP last year.

There are a couple of other aspects to his game that also garner interest from me and they are:

His clean hands below his knees, be that either running at full pace picking up the ball, or in tight in the contest, he is a one touch player.
He loves it hard and tough and NEVER shirks a contest or an issue.
But the biggest point of difference that he has, in comparison to the rest of this years potential midfield cohort, is that none even come remotely close to being able to match him in the aerial game. He plays a lot taller than his 186 cm and he has very sticky fingers, the Bartel comparisons in regards to his overhead ability are pretty apt.

He is also the type and style of midfielder that we have none of and he would complement a Yeo, Shuey, Redden, Sheed mix.

If Clark continues his good form as a mid fielder for the remainder of the TAC Cup season and gets the opportunity to play as a midfielder in the All Stars game Grand Final week and presents as well in those remaining games, as he has post Championships, then the likely hood of him being on the board at our pick is thin.

That said Rohan O'Brien has his "type" of player and I don't think Clark fits that type, so I expect O'Brien to be drawn to a Brayshaw, Garner and his name sake Lochie O'Brien..... now all good players but the latter two are safe picks rather than upside picks.

Besides what a great way to usher in the new stadium with 60,000 screaming fans yelling at the top of their voices again .... :satellite::satellite:HUNTER:satellite::satellite:

As I stated earlier there is still a long way to go before the white boards are settled but I have a sneaky feeling that Hunter Clark will be a player that surprises in his first year.
Supporters will be saying how did the recruiters miss this kids upside ..... he flashes Marcus Bontempelli and Dyson Heppell X factor to me. Both whom the popular scribes only saw as attacking HBF's with some flair and missed their genuine midfielder capabilities.

Wow mate, thanks for the response. Above and beyond what I expected. Definitely looks classy in the Bont mould as you've stated. I'll be following him closely up until draft day

I want hunter Clarke just for the name only.
