Gaff and our first for kelly would make me moist.
Kelly's Out of contract. Once he agrees terms with us get him to state he wants to come here and only here. Then We bend them over. Gaff straight swap...theu can have Masto as some steak knifes.

You need to as it will answer a lot of your concerns about Clark.

After you watch Clark ( And PLEASE tell me you are going to make the effort to youtube Hunter Clark AFL ...aren't you now... ) then you won't have any concerns about his ability to work his way out of traffic..... and there is nothing wrong with his decision making...very quick hand both left and right.... you need to get creative with your imagination, just imagine how effective Priddis could have been if he had a burst of speed away from the contest and got some separation.

If you had watched Clark play , you would already know that he thrives under physical pressure.
He is one tough never say die hombre .
If Clarke's contested game can translate into AFL then i'd take him. A tough inside contested player with explosiveness is what we need. Knocking pure inside players footskills is pretty irrelevant. Most inside mids are average kicks. The good thing with Clarke is he is dual sided and not another limited kick like a Gaff, Hutchings and priddis.

That said i would love us put some development into his kicking.

If the club is serious about contending while we still have JK and nic nat they will offer Kelly 200k more than what he's asking to make sure it happens. I'd be more than happy to give him a 1.5 mil a year contract, front ended. Exactly the type of player we need and would instantly bring us from a 8-10 rank side to around top 4 with the return of nic nat.

We're in a very unique situation this year where we have probably 2 mil extra cap space in retirements of priddis, mitchell, butler, possibly lecras and if i'm not mistaken wellingham and mackenzie will be receiving a pay cut, an extra 2 mil in salary cap increase, and we're one of only 2 clubs who didn't have automatic increases in new deals proportionate to the salary increase, the other team being Adelaide. This means we probably have more money than any other club in the competition to spare over the next year or 2.

New stadium next year, new state of the art facilities the next year, family ties, and a bigger contract than anyone else can offer, I'm sure he'd consider.

The guy is 22, averaging 30 disposals, a goal, 6 tackles, and has a far better disposal than either Danger or Dusty, and if he continues his trajectory, he will be the best player in the comp in a couple of years.

Won't happen, club is too conservative unfortunately.

Maybe and I do get your point.
I don't think his tank is that bad.
Look he is a quality Mid and at the end of the day thats what we are short of.
So I would not be unhappy with selecting him, as I have said before he is very much the O'Brien "type".

Monocle do you know if Brayshaw was born in WA?

I know Angus was, but I'm not sure if their Dad moved before Andrew was born.

Yeah no doubt. It's hard to imagine he would be as effective in most other clubs. Maybe sydney.

It would basically consign Shuey to be a pure inside mid which I don't think suits him.
nah redden and sheed can do the grunt work

Two first rounders could hypothetically get the job done considering both should be top ten picks. Perhaps we could also flick a later upgrade their way.

The challenge will be convincing Kelly to move west which I think there is probably a 1% chance of.

At least he'd be willing to play for East Perth when he's old and strictly there as depth unlike Priddis and LeCras...

imagine the outrage and contempt from the Victorians if we snagged Kelly .
His old man is West Australian and bagged two Sandovers with the Royals - doesn't mind a wave or two either.

Think he stayed in Vic after he went to North though - it's a two horse race from what I hear, and West Coast are up to their eyeballs in it with North.

Have you got inside word?

1.3 is what we are currently paying Emac plus Wellingham plus Le cras. And likely have $200k change after that.

The problem is that you still have to have a full list and pay everyone on it. It always looks good to begin with but starts to bite you in the ass a few years later when you can't afford to pay up and coming players or attract other talent. I think it really limits the chances of success. Look at Sydney's success so far with Tippett and franklin. You could argue that Boyd help the dogs win but he's played only a handful of good games for them. Hawthorn have recruited role players over the years to good effect however they never threw too much money to attract a star. Geelong have issues as well I reckon. Sure they are near the top but they are a long shot to win the premiership and they would be maxing the cap too I'd imagine? I would definitely argue that history suggests throwing lots of money to attract one player can be a hinderance. Draft smartly, pick up trade bargains on undervalued players or role players and then develop them well for team coherrance. On top of all this I think it speaks volumes about a bloke who chases money over premierships. We don't need another pay cheque collector

Agree with Monocle and really think Brayshaw gives the vibe of being an O'Brien pick. If I was making a phantom now I'd probably pick him with what will hopefully be pick 9 to West Coast.

I'd really like to believe that. How reliable is the info?

I'd absolutely love Kelly, not many players I wouldn't offer up for him as well, Naitanui is one I wouldn't.
