Anyway the rumour about barrass wanting out is true?

Rumour goes he wants to play with his Mate McCarthy

The writing was on the wall when we bought in older top up players the last few years that it was the last roll of the dice especially with mitchell and Petrie coming in .

redden is young enough but jetta is going to be past it by the time we contend again .

We are now left in limbo with our top up players taking up picks, list spots and game time from our next generation .

At least freo saw it coming and pulled the shoot early . Pick 3 would have been handy this year

I'm talking in general about the young guys that get a few games out of their natural position, don't do that great and then get shunted back to the WAFL, or guys that don't even get a game. Mutimer, Cole, Karpany, Lamb, Nelson, Watson. Any other team in the league would have given these guys an extended run or in the case of Lamb and Watson at least given them a game or two to see what they've got. We seem to allocate 4 or 5 spots to young guys and that's it, where as other teams will carry their younger players through 5 or 6 game stints because they know they're going to be a better team in the long run for it. We play the least amount of young guys in the league, and it's actually quite scary when you look at it, we're going to pay for it big time in the next couple of years.

You make a fair enough point. I guess my original point is just that I'm glad they at least acknowledge Partington lacks impact with his disposal. Not to sound too neg but I suspect he has future whipping boy written all over him.

Simpson has been in the unfortunate position of having to pick a side he believed would give us the best chance of finals, I suspect he didn't feel he had the freedom to make mass changes and risk massive defeats like Ross Lyon has done. I too wish we'd seen more games into the younger players this year but I also think outside of a couple examples, the players outside side the side who genuinely have talent have been injured (Rioli, Venables, Waterman).

I'm looking forward to the mass turnover and more youthful looking side in 2018.

....
and, as an aside, this is not just a side issue but a genuine issue which is not just apparent to those on the inside.

lol sounds like EVERYONE wants to go to Fremantle... Could be 4 100+ floggings for the year if they get pumped by the Bombers!
It's because there are a few players with some links to Freo, however minimal, and after Freo brought in a bunch of guys from other clubs last year their supporters must think they are destination club all of a sudden.

Hogan, 2 x McGoverns and Barrass. Probably missed a few others. Matera and Wilson?

That would make them a pretty good team but seriously there is no way they could obtain all that without pissing off a heap of their current players in regards to money.

Besides having injuried their sides they have sizeable time on their sides. Sighs.

It'd be enough to elevate them from a #top4list to a certain premiership contender

Who wouldn't want to play with the most approachable, down to earth coach and captain combination in the league?

Hahaha. I read your post three times and was like WTF before I got it

Pick 5 and Logue would start the conversation since hes contracted for 2 years. I personally wouldn't give him up for anything (especially to freo). He's got FB locked up for his career once he improves his 1 on 1 defending.

Logue wouldn't be the player I'd be chasing from Fremantle. Tucker, Weller and to a lesser extent Blakely would be the ones I'd push for.

We used late first round picks on Redden and Wellingham, Redden is finally starting to deliver.

So whete would all those other top picks have come from exactly?

What we should have done was trade with GC/GWS when they first came in, even one or two extra first rounders could have helped massively.
