34 touches and 3 goals vs 2nd on the ladder GWS .I think you're massively over rating him. It's that simple. This fantasy of a big bodied mid that you dream about wouldn't have solved any of our problems. We lack A grade midfield talent, which includes contested ability, but also includes pace, decision making and great disposal. He doesn't have a great deal of any of those additional qualities. Adding another contested plodder wouldn't have helped us jack shit.
Could have picked up Uncle Drew long time ago, and avoid the whole wasted time at a shit house club and moving after 300 games.McDougall was a no. 5 pick? Geeez.
Was a baffling decision to draft an undersized tall defender instead of Ryan.
Why get Ryan when they already drafted Rioli.IF they delist either Hill or le cras or both this year and don't draft him then we can have this discussion.By the way Gorter wasn't the reason that Ryan goy six today.Liam Ryan another 6 goals today against AFL listed defenders. But yeah nah lets rookie list Gorter instead

one swallow in our side would be ok.One swallow doesn't make a summer.
When was the last time anyone at the eagles got those numbers ?One swallow doesn't make a summer.
NOone swallow in our side would be ok.
Because he has a shit tonne of upside? Because they knew Hill and LeCras wouldn't be around for much longer? Because we already have several medium sized defenders? Why get Ryan when they already drafted Rioli.IF they delist either Hill or le cras or both this year and don't draft him then we can have this discussion.By the way Gorter wasn't the reason that Ryan goy six today.
Because Rioli is not a sure thing, because he's the type of player you use the rookie draft for, a high risk high reward player that has potential for the future, not for an overage tweener with no outstanding skills in a position we already have well and truly covered? Why get Ryan when they already drafted Rioli.IF they delist either Hill or le cras or both this year and don't draft him then we can have this discussion.By the way Gorter wasn't the reason that Ryan goy six today.
Apologies but your post about Menegola is one of hindsight and reeks of the flavour that is kick WCE and all it does at the momentMate he was one of the last picks in the draft. Not a bloody early pick. he 's 188cm contested mid that dominated WAFL and was exactly the type of pick we needed. I like Mutes and Allen but i'd rather have seen us been more proactive and fix our midfield issues. That draft we picked up a small mid, 2 back flankers (one with hopes of playing mid) and KPF.
Breman was a #2 was tradable to richmond. mcdougall was tradable as well to the dogs Masten is the most disapointing. So many crappy games . All time caught holding the ball. So so crappy. # 3 what a joke. No one will take himI'd have the following guys as worse picks ( even taking into account where they were selected )
Todd Breman #2
Peter Higgins #10
Shane Porter #12
Shane Sikora #12
Brendon Fewster #3
Luke Trew #14
Jaxon Crabb #12
Brandon Hill #10
Andrew McDougall #5
Tony Notte #20
Tom Swift #20
Gerrick Weedon #22
Murray Newman #23
A few others that are border line but the ones above stood out to me.
The problem maybe is maybe we don't have any decent SMALL defenders.Last week Nelson got towelled up by a fast small forward and this week Cole and others got towelled up by a small fast forward.Maybe we should have drafted a small defender.Because he has a shit tonne of upside? Because they knew Hill and LeCras wouldn't be around for much longer? Because we already have several medium sized defenders?
Offload Masten to Gold Coast. They have 6 picks in the top 40.They might give up 32 or 40 especially if Gary goes.Breman was a #2 at least he was tradable.Richmond took him. Masten is the most disapointing. So many crappy games . All time caught holding the ball. So so crappy. # 3 what a joke
That's the reality mate - if one has a choice then they will go for whichever is going to be less taxing on their bodies so they can extend their careers. You just need to ask Bluey McKenna as to whether flying shortened his career or not. He's adamant that it did.
Yep. I understand this to be the case also. From what I'm told they would actually prefer to be on separate teamsMy mail has it that Mitch and Jezza were never really that close as brothers and don't care if they end up at the same team.
Fair enough pointPass on that.
None of this years top few players are worth the price as the talent difference between pick 1 and pick 8 is very slender.
I also cant see many ,if any, Clubs trading a 2018 first rounder at trade week, given the talent that will available in next years first round.
Mitch McGovern was never the answer. Too similar to Darling. Where are you going to play him? Can't play JK Mitch JD and 2nd Ruck all in the forward line. Just hoping Jezza doesn't leave now. My ideal would be Mitch signs on at Adelaide. The Eagles have something up their sleeve just like when they got Redden. I think it will be Zaka, Acres or Rocky and I'm not against either of them. I believe Matera will be an Eagle too.
Like hearing the coaching committee is getting a shake up too. From rd 1 to now we haven't addressed some areas that we need to like our transition from the back half to the forward half.
1 thing I would say is IF we won those 5 games we went 0-5 that were just 8pts the difference. (GC,Melb,Coll,StK,GWS) let's be honest we should've won all of them if we didn't stop completely. We would be top and Nic Nat would be back.
None of which helps the midfield.Mitch is a replacement for Le cras.
He also is different to Darling, Darling needs to lead to get most of his marks, Mitch has an unbelievable vertical leap and takes pack marks.
We did, Rotham. The problem maybe is maybe we don't have any decent SMALL defenders.Last week Nelson got towelled up by a fast small forward and this week Cole and others got towelled up by a small fast forward.Maybe we should have drafted a small defender.
Lever will be at the Demons, leaving for the $$. Mitch will stay at AdelaideYep. I understand this to be the case also. From what I'm told they would actually prefer to be on separate teams
Such is the sibling rivalry. This is why freo is definitely an option but I highly doubt he will leave Adelaide. I would be willing to bet that lever goes and Mitch stays. Jez won't be going anywhere
