mono - You been on the turps or did you miss the post draft media release?

You know the one that says we are really happy with drafting and always take the best available.

southcoast I generally always need to get on the turps after listening to O'Brien post draft.... the guy needs to have a massive bib around his neck and a large box of tissues close by handy because he dribbles so much shit it gets pretty messy.

From what I hear regarding Ryan, clubs last year didn't think he could perform in big games. Always was kept quiet.
As that's my name I can't help but take it as a personal shot.
From my limited accomplishments across various sporing codes, I'd actually say the opposite was true, I never really performed unless it was a big game.
Sooooooooo....Take it back Bitch!!!!!!

Ryan was extremely unfit last year. Why should we reward guys like that with a list spot? I'm sure part of the reason he is playing so well now is because he got the kick up the arse he needed. Many of us wanted him rookied last year (myself included) but I understand (not necessarily agree) what they were thinking in this instance. The downside is now he will cost a lot more

Isn't that what the rookie list is for though...Take a punt on potential/talent in the hope of development?

Please ...please Mr O'Brien prove me wrong :praying: and nail this years draft.

Who is your current favourite for our pick Monocle?

I've really developed my interest in Higgins - think he will be a very good forward/mid that could impact next year and seems a safe bet (as much as people will cringe at that word on this board).

I do get the vibe he may go before our pick but he's probably my favourite at the moment. Clark is another who I'd love but I suspect could be gone.

As much as I like Naughton I'm hoping the purps pull the trigger with #5 so an extra mid can shuffle down to our pick.

I really want a genuine inside midfielder with our first and any of these four I would be OK with.

Brayshaw, Constable, Clark and Higgins in no particular order.

I guess to be honest my two favourites are Brayshaw and Clark as they both have pace as well, but I am warming more each week to Constable.

Should we win a final or two then IMO our choices of a genuine inside mid will be much thinner as the four I have mentioned will all be candidates for the 5-14 range.

What appeals to you about Constable may I ask? He's probably the one from the range I have the least interest in, strikes me as more of an accumulator without being particularly damaging.

10 tackles too. For a fast line breaker who can push forward to kick a goal, 10 tackles is a really good effort. He's obviously not some super outside one way runner

I reckon we need to use pick ~30 to get him. Our third rounder will be too late.

What do you expect them to say? Sorry guys we've been doing a shit job for the last 6 years and we'll probably keep doing a shit job for the foreseeable future

Yep, Suban was putting a bit of work into him around the stoppages and worked off him quite well so that may be one thing that he needs to work on at the next level. But he certainly moves well in traffic and had some nice moments. Would only improve in an elite, full time setup I would have thought.

No, it's clearly for all the rubbish guys we erroneously gave mutli-year contracts to but can't afford to buy out and for cast-offs that no one else thinks are any good (and actually aren't any good but we don't have anyone on the list management team capable of discerning this).

He has a high footy IQ reads the play well and knows where to be and finds a lot of the footy and he also finishes well by foot and hand.
Brings others into the game and when he gets on the outside his disposal accuracy hurts opposition sides, look more closely to his assists, also a good natural on field leader.
He does lack leg speed but he seems to not get tackled often. He reminds me a bit of Mundy as you watch him and he doesn't appear fast but others around him don't catch him.
On the other side of the coin he has a quick mind as his decision making is very sharp.

Like I said he is not I my top two, but I have three mates in the East who's opinions I rate highly and they have all seen a lot more of him than me and two of them have told me that he will be "well gone" by the time we get to pick...... who knows , but I will say this that he is turning heads with his consistently good games for Sandy.

Another guy I know that has some contact with some AFL scouts ( albeit minor ) has told me that word is that we are interested in the "Sandringham Pair" and that IMO would be Brayshaw and Constable.... that said the pair are on most Clubs top end of the white board.

Thanks for the insight Monocle. :thumbsu:

Do you think he becomes a mid at the next level? That's just about the first question we should be asking ourselves about each prospect.

Oh I have absolutely no doubt what so ever that Constable will become a quality mid at the next level.

My issue was never with not drafting Liam Ryan - for a "professional" to get a beep in the 10's... shows ZERO dedication. my issue is that Bailey Banfield and Dylan Main are two blokes with a lot more potential than Gorter. Either of those guys would be preferable.

Looks to have very nice distribution by hand just wasn't sure about his contested game (through limited viewing).

It's looking more and more likely we will have a few very promising players to choose from come November. Another first rounder would be lovely.

Yes but can he play HBF?
