What are people's thoughts on chasing Matthew Kennedy from GWS? Out of contract at the end of this year. Not sure what he would cost given he was a Pick 13, but at 20 years of age, playing 16 games this year could be a 150-200 game quality mid??

Does Gibbs only want to play for Adelaide or would he be happy to move to Port?

Let's say Gaff comes to us and says he is looking at going home next year, and that if the club wants to trade him this year to get something for him he's cool with that too.

Totally unrealistic scenario here then, but what about:

Out/In:
WCE: Gaff/SPP
Carlton: Gibbs/Gaff
Port: SPP/Gibbs

Might have to be a little bit of horsetrading around the edges to satisfy all the clubs as well. I am not really sure what Gibbs is worth, you'd probably expect another 2/3 really good years out of him so it depends where Port rate their list as to whether they'd do that. However, their president did just call out their list and say if you don't want to stay then beat it, so maybe SPP is a guy who would take up the offer.

Anyway I don't really get involved in the draft hypotheticals too much but it was just something that occurred to me that I haven't seen discussed.

Reading the AFL site .....Essendon were trying in 2013 to swap David Myers and Travis Colyer for Melbourne's pick 2 , now I know 2013 and Myers and Colyer were youngsters but that is a daylight robbery attempt by Essendon .

Someone posted re Matthew Kennedy ...he should be a target for WCE .

Gaff is worth pick 4 at a minimum, probably then an upgrade of our second round or third round draft picks. He would be incredible value for a rebuilding side like North. He's only 25, one of the best players in the competition, he's worth it.

If he really wanted to leave that is.

Noone wants Lamb, we should re-rookie him or something, and Masten.. well maybe someone is dumb enough to trade pick 80odd for him. Maybe Essendon

We do have a decent relationship with Norths being their retirement village.

Gaff plus Lamb plus our 2nd for their 1st plus Anderson plus Mountford and their 3rd.

We always stuff up with our 2nd picks in the draft

A good deal for Gaff would be North 1st rd pick and a exchange of 2 nd rd picks this year plus North 's 2 nd rd pick next year 2018 ..

WCE get Pick 4 and 21 this year plus a mid 20's pick next year ..

WCE picks 4 ,13,21 etcetera

Top 5 pick this year or a chance next year if he leaves under RFA where he will get us an end of first rounder anyway but depending on where we finish.

If he left next year I recon we would match any rfa bid and force a trade. We wouldnt let him go for a pick in the teens alone.

Tbh if Gaff actually wanted to leave, I'd be content with any pick in the top 10 if we can get it. Seems like he's pretty highly regarded in the east.
I have been critical of Gaff a fair bit this year and whilst I would be willing to trade him for a more rounded high quality mid (given Gaff's limitations and the balance of our team) and assuming Gaff wants the trade, Gaff is a proven AA player etc and simply a top 10 pick is in my view over-valuing picks. He is worth more than that in my view. Obviously if it was pick 1 that would be overs but pick 9 or 10, I think we would need more.

Yep. Gaff has proven credentials. Pick 10 could be the next Tambling.

Clubs are getting the most out of tip picks but a gun in the hand is worth two in the draft bush.

I feel dirty for even contemplating this but it's been in my thoughts for a while and really grown legs in the past few days.

I am very keen to see us trade up the draft order and St. Kilda with 2 x top 10 picks and a want for outside class (lost out on Kelly and Whitfield) seems a logical club to target.

It's a great chance to trade Gaff and get a top 10 pick in return which I think is better than any FA compo we could get in 2018.

Go for him I'd say but there will be a few other clubs interested especially now that Hopper has re-signed at GWS.

Hopper the better credentialed of the 2 boys but Kennedy is a real midfield goer.

We'd have a best 22 spot for him.

St Kilda have more of what we need than North Melbourne, that's for sure. Good picks, Acres... I think that creative minds could make up a package of fair value for both sides that involved Gaff.

That being said, I'd still like to see us in the conversation with North for Mountford, just with lower denomination currency. We have plenty of fringe players from Victoria who might feel their chances are better elsewhere.

Gaff is almost a Montagna clone and yes with two top ten picks and desperate to make finals next year they should be looking at ways to improve their list with a trade.

TBH If we could talk the players into it and gaff got us a top 10 pick id see what gws had to say to an offer of 2 firsts for hopper, wilson and kennedy.
