Matera to Fremantle is growing legs over the last couple of weeks. Think that's his preferred destination.

Wouldn't mind him at West Coast but he'd have to put in the hard yards at selection. No walk up on name.

Fasolo should a major trade target at the right price as Nathan Wilson from GWS should be if he signals an intent to come home.

Not as keen to replace Gaff with a player. Would rather gain pick 7 from the Saints with an exchange of other picks. If we can hold 7/ 8 and something between 13 and 17 it sets us up well enough early in the draft.

mature age drafting looks the go
We also have the cash to snag one surprise gun:$

If we could somehow land Tim Kelly and Liam Ryan it would be a good haul.

Although i'm sceptical of just how successful Ryan will be at AFL level, think his lack of fitness and defensive pressure will see him exposed.

He will be the perfect fit for their culture, will be able to get on the gear with Bennell and Johnson. Plus no finals means more party time with the boys

If we trade Gaff, we should ask for a first and third rounder. He's worth more than a mid first round pick imho.

Hopefully we can get whichever of TKelly, Garlett and Sam Taylor are around in the middle section of the draft, so a few more bullets will be handy.

Honestly don't think Fasolo or Matera give us anything more than 2012-2016 Josh Hill.

HF: Daniel Venables ~ Jack Darling ~ Tim Kelly( looks exciting from the bits and pieces i've seen, not sure where he lands in the draft though)
FF: Willie Rioli ~ Josh Kennedy ~ Jamie Cripps

That's a forward set up i think works for us in 2018.

3 rookies... bit inexperienced for mine

Not sure we need another 181 cm small forward, we already have Parto filling that role. We need mids that can play forward not forwards that just pinch hit as a mid.

Bit of both, think the forward 6 i posted gives us a bit of everything.

Alternatively we play a forward line with 6 pure forwards like Adelaide but i don't think we have that sort of talent on the list right now.

Wouldn't it be nice to see a matera in an eagles gurnsey again? We do need forward pressure tho hopefully willie can provide that with Cripps next year

Forward pressure needs to be a shared effort. Can't just have one guy applying pressure. Makes no sense. Willie won't be that guy anyway, he's too attacking.

West Coast forward pressure of 2011/12 was many of the same players tackling like crazy and locking the ball in.

No reason why we can revert to that - pressure isn't a skillset it's a mindset, brah

Very simple - you move some money forward. It is pretty simple with the tax year not fully aligned with the football salary year.

Example: I go to Shuey next year and say: - can we pay you $150,000 of the 2019 salary from March to June (tax year 2018/19) in September 2018 (tax year 2018/19). No tax implications. Move $150k into 2018 and free up space in 2019. Pick you leadership team and each move forward the amounts and you have more for a target in 2019.

The changes are really simple when you main leaders and higher salary players see what the club is doing and buy into it. They are not disadvantaged financially at all, in fact they get the money in their account 6 to 9 months earlier.

Therefore while we have the capacity, I would like to think we spend 100% of our cap even if it means we have forward paid some of it.

We are talking OVER $2m here not a $150k here and there.

When you have that much cap space to invest over paying players a year early isnt the best bang for your buck IMO.

Its Rockliff or Motlop for mine. The FA pickings have thined out unfortunately.

It also means we will definately move Giles on early and pay out his contract.

You are still overpaying for shit and likely longer term deals. Next year looks like a better free agent class, plus add in pay rises to McGovern and Yeo.

Find a way to reach the minimum spend this year and keep the cap space and flexibility for next year

Hahahahahaha. Is that worse than Myers and Colyer
Yep Stratton is 29 next year and i doubt would be best 22, defense is our strongest line. we have Schofield as surplus atm.
Hartung is just a small spud heu has amassed a grand total of 0 Brownlow votes in his career. Is a poor mans Masten LOL!
