With the list you have now, how much does your team improve with an injury free Nic Naitanui in the team, if say you made 0 trades and went straight to the draft?

At minimum tread water post-Mitchell-Priddis retirement. Fully fit? We're probably a top 4-6 team.

That's a big statement, although I do see a possibility. Who replaces priddis, Mitchell and petrie?

Yeah there's a massive gap. Without them we will struggle with total possesions. Besides Gaff and to some extent Shuey hardly anyone breaks the mid 20s. Our inside 50 count for a top 8 team was already very ordinary.

Well Mitchell and Petrie didn't play in our GF year so we don't really need to replace them per se. We do need to replace Priddis however, and we don't really have anyone who can do that. Redden and Sheed need to lift massivey, and we desperately need to draft a kid who can have some sort of impact in the midfield immediately. Hopefully they don't try to go the mature age mid route, but I'm sure they will

Hasn't changed for me this is the group I would pick from :

Brayshaw.
Constable.
Higgins.
Coffield.
Clark.
O'Brien.

Would Charlie Ballard be a good prospect as a 2nd or 3rd pick ,he`s a rare prospect at 195 cm that plays on the wing and can go into the middle ,he also can kick off both feet ..

So based on all of the recent posts - am I right in saying we are off Tim Kelly?

Or is that there a 'new toy' syndrome in place?

Just leave it to the recruiters, wait ................................ carry on.

Posted yesterday in the GF thread.

The last two flags should have teams from 15 teams thinking with a bit of luck, sweat and a lot of hard work they too could be premiership players next season.

Dogs and Tigers have proven anything is possible if you want it bad enough.

So do we?

We've been mainly discussing our first pick, Tim Kelly will not be our first pick so we haven't mentioned his name. It's not that hard to work out.

Clearly no. Or we want it but don't have the players who want to scrap hard enough to get it

It probably just reaffirms its near impossible for an interstate team to win it if there is a Vic team involved.

No not impossible but does result in an unfair advantage. I prefer the higher placed teams home ground but I think a neutral venue is really the only sensible answer to all this.

Yeh it's weird, I've seen some mocks where he's top 5 and some where he's around the mid-teens.

Will be gone but a similar player in Jack Petrucelli who is less polished at this stage may be available with our 2nd pick ..

I am a big fan of Ballard as he poses some intriguing mismatches and he also has some X factor.
I see him as sitting some where between our second and third round picks.
Cant have them all unfortunately.

That said it would not surprise me, if he took a season or two on a list and then burst on the scene once he fills out a bit and people look back and scratch their heads and ask how did he lasted so long before some one picked him.

If he was there at our third round pick I would hope we would pounce.

Sheed is the logical Priddis replacement.

We have our sights on two mature recruits in Ah chee and Tim Kelly.

I would still aim to trade Gaff for pick 7 plus a 2018 3rd rounder.

On trade that 2018 3rd plus our 2018 3rd to Gold Coast for say pick 24 and 37.

Pick 7 Higgins
Pick 13 Clark / Brayshaw or OBrien
Pick 24 Kelly
Pick 30 Worple
Pick 37 Miers
Pick 48 Ryan
Ah chee by some other trade

Venables, Naitanui, Lycett and Rioli gave us 1 game in 2017.

Thats 11 players to reinvigorate the side next season and for years to come.

Tough ? As he is quite unique...... not many tall's with wingman / midfield traits and capabilities.

My comment is based on style and not ability.

Bit like Birchall , with a splash of Ibbotson. A more balanced skilled and poised Will Schofield
