And I would have thought that a pick upgrade being used as value in a trade is quite simple too.
You can argue the semantics of what a pick is worth, but I'd be confident in saying that their system, based on expected games played, is better than yours.
Mate I'm not trying to argue with you. Too many people are justifying trades by quoting the points values of picks. As I said in my initial
post why would we give Port our second for Ah Chee & their third? If he's worth a third then we'd surely just offer that. If they get pick 50 odd for him that's a win because they don't play him, he's out of contract and he wants to leave. It doesn't matter how many points the pick is worth, if they deal with us we have one third round pick and it is what it is. Adelaide drafted Sloane with 44, Sydney drafted Parker with 40; it doesn't matter how many points those picks were worth it was their position in the draft and the players that were still available that determined their value when taken.
