Lol well there goes the fanciful suggestions of many posters who were using Masten as some way to upgrade any of our picks. Noone wants him because he's garbage.

If only larrikin was a list manager, that would be the only way we'd get something for him
Unfortunately for Masten he doesn't have the build suitable for AFL - he tries to lay a tackle and the opposition shrug him off like an annoying insect! Doesn't seem to have much upper body strength.

Just a couple of thoughts about Ebert
He was always going to go back to SA and Port. Kind of mad to draft him.
After playing the whole season in the 22, McGinnity of all people was picked ahead of him in the finals. That speaks for itself.
He was heavily criticised on this board when he was playing for WC. It was only when he left that posters seemed to think he was any good.
The problem was that Woosha insisted in playing him on HFF, when his preferred position was midfield! Apart from wanting to return to play for Port due to his family connections with them, the fact he couldn't play in the midfield was another reason why he decided to leave from what I heard at the time.

No way to that!

"The new name emerging at Essendon, Travis Colyer could be headed back to West Coast," Clarky told Triple M.

"The speedy forward could help the Bombers get a second or third-round pick that would then help them get their three major trade targets in Stringer, Saad and Smith.

"So Colyer (is) possibly headed out west."
So we are supposed to get essendon scraps for a second rounder to help then secure good players ? **** that

The trouble with throwing up names like Schofield, Masten and McKenzie is that none of them want to leave Perth as their lives are firmly planted in the West and if it means playing WAFL at East Perth and staying on our list then they seem content to do so.

Not ideal list management but thats a whole other issue.
Schofield may want to return to Geelong one day seeing as that's where he originally came from? But very unlikely Masten & McKenzie will want to move, both being WA born and bred!

Loving the idea of getting ah chee

This might be the bargain of the draft - port fans think he has the talent to be anything just played out of position and not enough games because of the players they already have.
Which was like Ebert when he left - wanted to play midfield!

Hagdorn was in especially fine form this morning.

Apparently we're only after Ah Chee to get his brother next year. He is no good according to old Haggers, and if we are so desperate for a big bodied mid we should have just kept Priddis.

Also we're going to give pick 30 for Coyler.
Priddis & Ah Chee are of the same age? Stupid Hagdorn - tries so hard to be like George Grulisich in his heyday but fails so bad!

Get priddis? You mean he actually found something that someone else can do better than sumich?

This is Essendon. They will be asking for first rounder.

Exactly. Bombers can go and waste someone elses time.

Would rather give our kids games then waste a 2nd rounder or even a 3rd on Colyer.

FFS dont these journos think before printing?

Asking a bit much I know.

So by making the 8 and beating the flogs in the elimination, we now face the prospect I feared sitting with pick 13. The last time we had a pick in the top 10 was in 2010.

As far as best available, there seems to be alignment with those in the know about the top 4 and they are all mids/possible mids. Dow, UAB, Raynor and Cerra and not worried about the order.

I believe we need Adelaide getting one of the 6 to 12 picks to take Darcy Fogarty. He is not what we need and I get a feeling he may do an Ebert if picked up by an interstate club. So we need him off the table. The other odd one is Bonar coming back from an ACL with possible huge upside but with a risk. I am reluctant to take a risk given our recent experience with Waterman and Cavka?

We also need to have clubs with picks before us wanting talls as I think there is a drop off after the top 10 mids. There are only 4 talls that could possible be taken before our pick are Naughton, Brander, Hayes and Balta.

That leaves the following midfield options: Coffield, Constable, Stephenson, Brayshaw, Higgins and Clark as midfielders of the class that I want at pick 13. I see another tier of mids with L Fogarty, Naish, O'Brien, Garner, Ling and Murphy as good midfield type options but a step down from the before mentioned 6.

So I see Freo possibly wanting a tall (will Brander or Hayes be that power forward they so desperately need - not sure), Collingwood definitely need a ccouple of talls (Naughton would be a great get for them and Hayes more a reach) and St Kilda may well decide they need a Brander/Balta that can play both ends since they can go for the outside leg speed of Stephenson or Brayshaw with the other pick they hold.

He was still finding his feet and his kicking and pace were questionable but he was young and probably would have been ok. It wasn't so much that he wanted to go home it was that we got nothing for him. That was more to do with the fact GC and GWS and all the picks rather than Pt Adelaide being contrary. They simply had no choice and we went along with it for the sake of the player,

Does the success of Vardy mean we can push back the need to draft a key forward in the first two rounds another year?

It probably does, so we jump the gun and take Kelly with our second rounder if not a late first. He'll instantly make us better and is something we lack - goal kicking mid.

Should we start preparing for the inevitable reality that Higgins won't be available at pick 13?

Knightmare's latest power rankings has him at 8th.

Last year his October mock had English going at 7, Taranto at 10, McLuggage at 1, SPS at 23...

He's good but he's guessing as much as anyone else.

I think so although I'd like to draft one at some stage this year.
We need more coverage than vardy and Mcinnes ( if he stays)
Rookie list a slider if we have to and see how they develop
