2017 trade/draft thread

As I've said I'm happy with the inactivity this year. Our midfield next season will effectively be gaining two first rounders next year with Dan Venables and whoever we pick this year, in addition to Naitanui. We're adding a mature recruit in Ah Chee who is a better than not chance to cement a best 22 spot next year following our departures. Then there's Rioli to be given a chance in our forward line.

We didn't extract any benefit from last year's draft in their first year due to injury - so I feel like next year Venables, Rioli and Waterman will effectively be like recruits in addition to what will hopefully be guys like Hunter Clark, Tim Kelly and Brendon Ah Chee. I think we have enough upside to look forward to that isn't as obvious externally. Despite Barrett's (dumb) suggestion I couldn't care less about missing out on guys like Motlop and Watts.

What's the end game though? I say do what gives us the best chance of recruiting a high level midfield talent and therefore pick 13 is crucial to us, rather than an extra pair of second rounders.

I think your suggestion makes sense when you need a second rounder to get a particular deal done in terms of a trade.

Good idea, trade pick 13 for 24 and 27 then send the 2 second rounders to Port for Ah Chee. Should see the deal get over the line so it doesn't drag on for a whole week.

At some point two lower picks has a better chance of getting a quality player than a higher pick.

I would rather offer our 2018 2nd rounder for one of GCs picks in the early 20s

Given the so called super draft next year and our anticipated slide, plus the heap of picks they already have this year, I reckon they'd go for it
